Today we’d like to introduce you to Han Yang.
Han, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started off working on the tourism board back in 2015 as a tour guide. In my senior year of college, I got the opportunity to work as a manager in their newly developed helicopter branch. I had to make a commercial for them that kickstarted my travel videographer career. Being Bilingual helped bridge the gap between the Chinese & English market.
When Covid happened all travel stopped and I thought I would go back to my original planned career of game design. However, a new market was trending within covid which was online courses and they needed videographers to film/edit their course. After doing this for a good year I missed the travel aspect of videography so I hit up a childhood film production that I looked up to called Stance Elements. They film the art of movement.
I get many opportunities within Stance Elements to travel and film for major brands such as Redbull, Monster, Olympics, and many more. The best part is I’m allowed full creative control of what vision I want to create.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a solo videographer/photographer there are always doubts about imposter syndrome and if the business will stop flowing in. A lot of no’s when reaching out to brands.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I mainly do videography & photography. I specialize in the art of movement and travel films. My edits are usually seamless and follow a flow that is unique from others’ visions. I’m most proud of my work which can invoke feelings in others and create a magical experience when watching my videos.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Just ask and network. A lot of people in this industry are talented but they fail in reaching out and are always waiting for work to come to them. I have friends that always complain they can’t find work but they have a plethora of connections within the industry they want to work in but they just don’t ask for help or reach out enough.
