Meet Sara Caldera of C-cycle House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Caldera.

Hi Sara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Sara and I am the creator and founder of C-cycle house. A new indoor cycling studio in Spanish fork, Utah. My indoor cycling journey started in 2018 when I participated in my first-ever spin class. The moment I walked into the dark room and felt the music pumping I was hooked. This type of cycling was DIFFERENT. There were no windows, just darkness and an amazing instructor leading a team with movements on an indoor bike. It was the atmosphere that I was drawn to that was centered on community and working out as a team. This wasn’t just a workout, it was therapy.

I moved to an area where this type of boutique fitness studio was not available and I found myself commuting an hour to experience this type of cycling class. That’s when I knew I needed to open a cycle studio close to home. So I left my comfortable job and took a BIG risk. Along the way, I was given an amazing team of instructors to create this space and help me create my vision. I have truly been shown that it takes a team to be successful. Our studio has now been open for 6 months, and we are constantly growing our community through our love of cycling. It has been so rewarding to be a part of such a strong and encouraging environment while celebrating our bodies. I am so excited to see the community continue to grow and see my dream come to life to share what I love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been an easy road. Being a business owner is not for everyone. I heard a quote that said “You quit your 8-5 job for a 24/7 job” and boy it is true. It has also been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done, even with all the bumps in the road. One of the biggest struggles I have faced with starting my own business is staying true to myself and doing my best to tune out negative feedback from others. I am constantly reminding myself to stay true to my dream and not worry about what others might think. Navigating a new business also comes with wearing a lot of hats and figuring out what works and what doesn’t while balancing home life. My mom always told me “if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life.” I feel so fortunate to be on this path and to share what I love with others.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about C-cycle House?
C-cycle house is a boutique indoor cycling studio located in Spanish Fork, Utah. We offer 45-minute rhythm-based cycling classes. We turn down the lights and ride to the beat of the music. Our studio is centered around community and celebrating our bodies. Our classes are led by expert instructors and are carefully chosen to bring the best experience on a bike. We ride as a team, starting and finishing each class together. Each ride is about doing your own personal best, designed to challenge the body and mind. Everyone’s life comes with their own personal challenges and we want to provide an escape where you can tune out the rest of the world and just ride.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Indoor cycling has become very popular the last few years and the industry is becoming more and more popular. Utah County is pretty new to boutique-style fitness studios, but I believe there will be more group fitness studios over the next 5-10 years. Fitness is a constantly changing industry with different formats gaining popularity at different times. The Instructors at a cycling studio have to obtain a very high level of talent. They face the challenge of changing up their classes to keep their riders entertained and motivated in their workouts week after week.
