Meet Candice Steele of CS Ginger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Steele.

Hi Candice, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We once purchased cheap tickets to go to Italy and a lot of people told us not to take our kids but we had a few people telling us that we should take our kids. After listening to both sides, we decided to take our kids. Shortly after we went to New York and we found lots of people on the internet saying again that you should never take your kids to NYC. Again we took our kids and realized that all of those people were wrong. We learned firsthand that kids can do great traveling and it is something families should do together.

This is how CS Ginger became to be. We decided that traveling with your kids is a fun and wonderful experience that families should do more often. You should travel with your families and make memories together even when your kids are little. Our goal is to help others learn how to travel with their families and to share different experiences that families will enjoy together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In our experience, nothing in life seems to go smoothly. As obstacles and struggles arise, our ability to overcome them and not view them as challenges but as experiences that we learn from and that will make us better. We have experienced challenges from significant hospital stays to travel breakdowns to the typical tired and moody children. No matter where you are in life this happens and like everyone else we take the bad with the good and make the most of the moments we have with our family.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about CS Ginger?
CS Ginger is a travel blog that was created to help families travel. This includes information on different places to travel, things families would want to know when traveling and fun places to visit that families would find enjoyable. We focus on practical information that everyday people might want to know and things that we wish would have known before traveling with our family. We currently focus on travel within the United States and have a section focusing on RVing.

One of our favorite examples of this comes from our trip to NYC. Before traveling to NYC, we researched what to do and how to get around. Everything we found said the Subway was amazing and the best way to travel. Once we arrived and started traveling the subway we realized it was a lot more challenging than the internet makes it sound, especially when hauling a stroller around in the hot subway tunnels. We ended up on express subway lanes skipping our destinations and wandering subways with multiple levels trying to figure out which way we needed to go to get to our destination. The subway can be great but for those who are not experienced taking an Uber/Lift or taxi that arrives at your exact location in a minute or less and drops you off at your desired location shortly after is a pretty great experience also.

There are gaps and hard to find information that CS Ginger helps fill so you know what to expect and so you can be prepared during your family travels. We love inspiring families around the world to take their families on their own epic adventures.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We have yet to find many, if any, destinations that are not kid-friendly. We find so many people asking if a destination is a good place to go with your kids like NYC or Las Vegas. Some of the activities are not for kids but many of them are. The more you travel, the less you ask if a certain destination is kid friendly. You choose a destination and ask what kid-friendly activities you can do there with your family. If it is on CS Ginger, it is going to be a kid-friendly activity.
