Hi Tia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
This last May, I had my baby boy. And from the moment I had him, I felt like a needed an army behind me. People to help me raise him. I also didn’t know what I was doing!! I’m a young first-time mom who’s still trying to figure out my own life and now I have a baby to take care of!
Lonnnng story short, I felt like I wasn’t the only mom out there who needed someone. But I didn’t know where to find my tribe! So I decided to make my own! Mom HOOD.
Mom HOOD is a safe place for moms worldwide to have that tribe you’ve been longing for. It’s a place to ask all your “mom questions” and to create lifelong friendships… from the comfort of your own home!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I didn’t know if Mom HOOD would be a flop or not… and technically, I haven’t seen if it truly is. But when I announced my launch of Mom HOOD, I had an overwhelming positive response from Moms everywhere! We are having our first event on January 2nd, and that’s when I’ll truly get to see if this was a good idea or not. Most of our group is over zoom, so I’m praying a lot of moms join and it will be a success!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve always had a very entrepreneurial mindset, and when it comes to helping others that mind goes into overdrive! I’m so passionate about helping other young moms navigate through motherhood. I truly believe we can’t do it alone and if we have an army of mothers behind us, we will feel so much stronger!
I’m a stay at home mom, so sometimes it gets lonely. I want a group of people I can turn to if I’m feeling down or just need to talk!
I looked into Facebook groups but mom groups on Facebook are soooo toxic. I was more nervous I was going to get mom shamed than anything & it wasn’t the safe space I was looking for.
What sets me apart from others is because I didn’t have the tribe I was looking for I decided to take action and create my own! Not only for me, but for all mothers worldwide.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Just go for it. Failing is scary, and I’m even still going through the scary part. But you’ll never know if you don’t try.
My favorite quote is from Jenna Kutcher when she said, “If it only matters to you, it matters!” And that has stuck with me since the moment I heard her say it. If you’re the only person that cares for what you’re doing… do it!! If you’re passionate about something, GO FOR IT! I guarantee there will be others out there who are passionate about the same thing.. and I promise they’ll find you!
