Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Taranto and Janell Reichenbach.
Hi Cynthia and Janell, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We (studio Co-owners) met teaching barre and shared a dream of owning our own fitness space that represented us and what we value: creativity, challenge, and community. As our friendship grew, so did this dream. We realized how compatible yet different we were, and how our complementary skill sets would make for a great partnership. We decided to pursue a studio license through Barre Forte, which gave us the creative freedom we were looking for in class offerings, format, and studio design. For a year and a half (with the help of a lot of takeout and wine) we spent many days and nights working on our business plan, budget, vision. Fast forward to July 30, 2022 and Barre Forte Kaysville officially arrived on the Davis County fitness scene!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have learned a lot throughout the process of planning, opening, and managing our studio. Some pieces have been smooth (surprisingly, the build out/construction went really well without much delay or blowing our budget), while others were more challenging. One of the main struggles we faced was not knowing what we wouldn’t know along the way. So much of this entrepreneurial journey has revolved around getting tidbits of information and finding out about things we should have done, should do, or will have to do in passing without clear instruction or guidance. When you open a business, you have to work within so many systems and agencies, and almost nothing is streamlined – it makes your head spin! Now that our studio is open, our biggest challenge is growing our clientele. We’re getting the word out and exploring different marketing channels but being patient is tough!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Barre Forte Kaysville is the first and only boutique barre fitness studio in Davis County, UT. Our workouts combine the best of ballet, yoga, and pilates foundational principles. We focus on isolating, overloading, and stretching each muscle group, resulting in improved strength, posture, and balance. It is our mission to ensure that new and seasoned clients feel like they belong, both in and outside of class. While we strive to create a comfortable environment, our high-intensity, low-impact workouts are designed to take you outside of your comfort zone. We offer 4 different class formats to cater to all fitness goals: Signature Barre Forte, Sculpt Forte (strength-focused), Stretch Forte (flexibility and mobility-focused), and Bar(re)bound (cardio-focused, coming January 2023).
We are a community that loves to work hard and have fun together. With heavily trained and knowledgeable instructors, we’re ready to motivate you through your workouts with a smile and a great playlist. We value our clients and appreciate their loyalty. We hold regular client appreciation events and themed classes. We enjoy getting to know each and every client that walks through our door.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
1. Bar(re)bound is an aerobic exercise that is performed while jumping on a mini-trampoline.
2. We have a text line people can message with any questions: 435-246-7766
3. We are women-owned! We are the sole owners.
4. We have an awesome new client special: 2 weeks of unlimited classes for $49! We encourage those interested to take advantage of this offer and take our different class formats. We have something for everyone.
5. There is a common misconception that barre is only for dancers, or that you have to be flexible or of a certain size or shape to take barre classes. This is completely false. Barre is for everyone who is looking for a challenging but low-impact workout that will give RESULTS! All are welcome at our studio. We will support you throughout your barre fitness journey!
