Meet Erika Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Taylor.

Hi Erika, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey, I’m Erika! I actually decided to become a photographer because of my sister. She’s an incredible photographer and thought it would be a good side hustle for me as a mom of two. From the moment she suggested I pursue photography, I was hooked! I got my first camera, invested in courses, and started to learn everything I could. I found my hidden passion and now I can’t get enough of photography! I am currently focusing on mastering my craft so that I can deliver a high-end client experience in addition to beautiful, timeless photos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am more of an introvert, so I have had to learn how to get outside of my comfort zone and try new things. I’ve found that being an introvert has actually been helpful because I understand what most people feel like on the other side of the camera so I’m able to help them feel more comfortable during our shoots together.

Another struggle is starting a new business because nobody knows who you are yet and you have to figure out how to get your name out there.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I photograph individuals and families, but I specialize in couples photography, whether it’s engagements, bridals, weddings, or just for fun!

My photography includes natural movements, and a creamy, warm, timeless look.

I understand the regular stress associated with getting pictures, so I make my photo sessions as painless as possible and make them more of a fun thing to do with your loved ones.

I’d love to take pictures for you! Here’s my current pricing. Please reach out with any questions.

  • Portrait Session (Individual): Starts at $250
  • Couples Session: Starts at $275
  • Family Session: Starts at $300
  • Weddings: Reach out for custom pricing based on your specific wedding!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have two pieces of advice for finding a mentor or networking in general:

1. Join a course and get to know the other people in your course. This has worked well for me!
2. Attend a content day and network with fellow photographers.
