Meet Caleb Copeland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Copeland.

Hi Caleb, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a small town in North GA where eventually I moved back to and still reside. I only really did two things growing up. I played baseball and went hunting. When I grew up, I knew I wanted a career in one of those 2 fields. It just happened to be I was better with a camera than I was throwing a baseball I guess. When I wanted to start my career in outdoor content creation, there were no resources for helping me learn certain kills. This is a very niche industry so there is no readily available information out there so I had to learn most of it the hard and long way. Once I got to experience and learned more and more I didn’t want the next generation of content creators to have to struggle on finding information as I did so I created the Redneck Tech Podcast.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There is no real clear career path for what we do for a living. There is no college degree or program you can enter. There is only passion and knowing how to hunt. I venture to say its easier to teach someone how to create the content than it is to go hunting. The hardest thing was knowing what to teach and what people didn’t know that they wanted to know. Once the podcast started going and we started doing some classes, we figured out what it was that people wanted to learn.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in long form outdoor content creation with a focus on hunting. 90% of what we do is film-hunting shows and series.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
This is easy.

1. Answer your phone no matter what. Reply to Texts and Emails, always be easy to get a hold of
2. Do what you say you are going to do.
3. Master the little things, showing up, being on time, reliable, etc.
4. Be a good human that people don’t mind being around.
