Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Keller.
Hi Brittany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi, I’m Brittany. I am a product designer by day and an illustrator by night. I was born and raised in SLC, Utah, and still call it home today. I have loved art all my life, taking every art class in high school, and pursuing a design degree in college. During the 2020 pandemic, I began painting and eventually got an iPad to start digital illustration. Since then, I have created a small business with my art, worked with amazing people, and created artwork that I am so proud of. I can’t wait for what the future holds for me and my art.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are challenges with every path. One of the biggest struggles I have found while illustrating, that I know all other creatives will understand, is finding the balance of when my creativity is flowing and when it is dried up and how to help it flow again. I try to ride the creative wave as it flows and allow myself time to rest and recharge when it runs dry. I have found that trying to force an illustration just won’t work and I have to let it come naturally when the inspiration strikes me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an illustrator and a User Experience designer. I have a full-time job working as a UX designer, and my illustration work has been a passion project of mine for a few years now. But I would love to eventually become an illustrator full-time. I am a digital illustrator, using an iPad to draw and create illustrations that can then be translated to print. I have made a name for myself by creating a tarot deck called The Lovely Ladies Oracle. I am so proud of how far it has come and where I will take it in the future.
My unique illustration style is bright, bold, and beautiful. I enjoy drawing women of all walks of life and hope that anyone who looks at my art will be able to find an illustration that resembles them and makes them feel beautiful.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I live in Sandy, Utah. I have lived here my entire life and even bought my first house just a few blocks from the house I grew up in. I love the familiarity of everything here and being able to drive by parks and places that I used to play at as a child. It is so easy to get to different parts of the valley, whether it be downtown Salt Lake, up the canyons, or Utah county.
My least favorite thing has to be the smog that takes over the valley air in the summer and winter.
