Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Ames.
Hi Erin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was a tiny girl, I have lived for animals. I figured I’d never be able to support a family off being with animals so I made a safe choice, and attended Utah State University for an accounting degree. Advancement in my career translated to growth in my animal family. 2 puppies later, I realized my time at the office wasn’t giving them the time they needed. Our favorite boarding facility came for sale and I got the opportunity to combine my newfound passion for business with my deep-rooted love for animals while providing the dream life for my pups! I love that life now revolves around dogs… and that I still get to use my accounting to grow and expand Royal Dog Boarding!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The hardest part of owning a dog boarding and daycare facility is balancing my family life and work life. It has taken a lot of maturation in communication to learn when to hire and when to close to allow each dog to feel treated like family, while still allowing me quality time with my family outside of work.
We’ve been impressed with Royal Dog Boarding, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Royal Dog Boarding is the premier open kennel dog resort in Northern Utah. We understand that dogs are family members and we prioritize welcoming each dog into our Royal Dog Family. Dogs have 12 hours of socialization and playtime every day! We have activities, crafts, pool time, snowmen building, and PLENTY of fetch! Dogs can come just for the day – or for the months of their pawrents European tour! All dogs have the opportunity to add grooming, nutrient-packed food, or training to their stay. Pawrents get photos daily of their dog doing what dogs do best.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
When everyone had more time home… MANY homes added four-legged family members. During such a lonely time, is there a better cure than man’s best friend? COVID puppies are our favorite!
