Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle and Josie Bossert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle and Josie Bossert.

Hi Danielle and Josie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
We are a sister duo. We are originally from Philadelphia, a city with rich art, design, and furniture-making history.

When Josie moved out to Salt Lake for work she started dealing with furniture on the side. While Danielle was working in design back East. We decided to join forces in 2020 and start building our vintage furniture business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not everything is easy. While we were confident in some areas, the design aspect for instance. We had to learn a lot of new skills, like how to make repairs and how to price items. We have made a lot of mistakes. But, we learned a lesson from each of those mistakes and it has helped to make us better businesswomen.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We love furniture and art. We also love people. So our little shop is a great fit for us. We love to offer people pieces we know they will love but we also love leading people to new and unexpected items. We just love the adventure of it all. The things you put in your home become part of the fabric of your life. So we feel like we are helping people along their life journey and create a home.

We love that we help our neighbors out with their first apartments, a new home, being a new couple, and blending families. We love that clients come in looking for unique and thoughtful gifts. We just love being part of the community.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We work with a lot of people behind the scenes. We work closely with people who like picking furniture. We work with upholsterers and a carpenter.

We also work with many interior designers in the area and from out of town. Because using vintage furniture is so much more ecologically sound than buying new we are looking to work with more local businesses to supply them with furniture and art.
