Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Davies.
Hi Nancy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was 22 years old when I was introduced to the importance of skincare. I worked for a Dermatologist for a few years and I learned so much! I was 26 when I had my 2nd son, decided to be a SAHM, and quickly realized that I needed to interact with adults for the sake of my mental health… that is when I decided to go back to school. I was at NIMA for a year, graduated in 2016, and opened Eve Esthetics Studio in 2017. I started in a room in my basement then 6 months later moved out into my own studio.
I started off offering lash extensions then had a terrible allergic reaction after 2 years, had a friend who is also an Esthetician talk to me about Lash Lifts and that is where it all changed for me. I had the service done on myself a few times, loved it, took a course, and started to offer the service at Eve. I offer all sorts of facials, chemical peels, and customized skin care but Lash Lifts are what I am known for! “less is more” is what I preach to my clients and a lash lift really helps with that. A good skin care regimen and a lash lift? You’re set!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I wouldn’t say that I’ve struggled.. but it also hasn’t been a smooth ride? Eve thankfully took off pretty quickly and I’ve continued to grow in this industry. I think being a woman in a career setting is always difficult.
Being a woman who is also a minority? That’s another level of intensity. The feeling of constantly having to prove myself is draining but it’s the way that it is. I’m stubborn and persistent which are the two things I’ve relied on for the last 6 years.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in skincare and lash lifts. I love skin. I love watching my client’s skin change and watching their confidence shoot up. Lash Lifts are what I’m known for. The immediate self-esteem boost is unmatched. The fact that it makes your mornings easier and they’re so natural and easy to care for is what keeps my clients coming back!
I’m most proud of the fact that I built Eve while raising 2 boys and being a wife. You can have a career, love your job, and be a good mom/wife but it takes a village. I don’t do this all on my own, I have a husband who helps and a family who also helps when we need it. What sets me apart from others in this industry? Me.
There are other Estheticians who offer the services I offer but our clientele doesn’t look the same. Your people will find you. You click with your people and those are the ones who continue to come back.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned that I am more creative than I think. When covid hit and I shut down, I figured out new ways to keep Eve going even when clients couldn’t come into the studio.
