Rising Stars: Meet Jeff Richins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Richins.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was in addiction from 1989 to October 13, 2007, which is my sobriety date. After being released from prison I started in the rooms of AA doing 2 meetings a day for a couple of years then began sponsoring other recovering addicts.

In the last 15 years, I’ve connected with my true self, improved my life, and taken what I learned in the 12-step program to create a modern approach to recovery. Last year I officially formed H.E.R.O.S. Coaching, LLC which is an acronym for Helping Each-other Reclaim Our Serenity.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a challenge to have 2 existing jobs while building this business. My passion is coaching and it has been difficult at times to have faith that this business will thrive and eventually take care of me and my family.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
With 15 years of sobriety and experience helping people recover along with my experience in sales with my clients, I’ve noticed the high turnover of valued employees due to issues with addiction and personal issues. So, I specialize in employee retention, allowing a last-chance intervention to help the employee while keeping them on the job as they get clean and improve.

My modern approach is trauma-informed and based on cutting-edge neuroscience, addressing thoughts, emotions, and body signals to resolve our clients’ past, regulate their present, and renew their future.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I have seen more stress and addictive and abusive behavior since the Covid-19 crisis. I’ve seen more stress and upheaval in the workplace due to the pandemic. People are feeling lost and overwhelmed.
