Life & Work with Steve Rojas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Rojas.

Hi Steve, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had the adventure to travel. As a kid, our parents would take my sister and me to Yosemite almost every summer. We would go camping at Bass Lake or in San Diego. I joined the United States Marines right out of high school and always wanted to travel more.

When I got out of the military, I knew I had a passion for technology and so I went in and got a position as a data and reporting analyst. During this time, I was also teaching drumline for a good 10 years. I found myself on YouTube creating video diaries for my family to see what I’m doing when I’m traveling. This turned into what I’m doing today.

Exploring the world and finding new adventures.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Doing anything new is always a challenge. Things never just fall into place. You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and just chip away until you reach your goals. The biggest challenge was trying to make a living while creating video diaries, as I call them, on Youtube.

I created multiple sources of income with several YouTube channels, several technology companies, and affiliate programs thru Amazon, Expedia, and turtle beach, just to name a few. I did have a job at the hospital during my building this up. Once it became self-sustainable, then it became easy. I had to plan, budget, research, and educate myself on every aspect of traveling while helping others do the same.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a content creator and influencer. Both are completely similar things. I create my own content, along with editing, filming, and creating a story.

While I’m doing all this, I give my followers the good and the bad of whatever it is that I’m doing. Either reviewing some earbuds or taking a trip to Alaska. I’m most proud of what I have created on my own. No handouts. No help.

Just me teaching myself and creating what I have today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe we create our own narrative. I think I’ve always put myself in a situation to succeed and always put myself to learn new things. I do believe there is that old saying of being at the right place at the right time, and I also believe that only happens when you put yourself in certain situations.

The biggest struggle I believe is sometimes you get put in the right place, but are afraid of failing or struggling. I think if you just give it your all as a hard worker or whatever it is that you’re doing, and accept the fact that you have to be uncomfortable along with not being miserable, then good things will happen.
