Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Logan.
Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion for adventure and travel ignited as a child. I frequently moved around in my adolescence; the experience of seeing new places and meeting new people expanded my perspective. It forced me to thrive in the instability of moving, and that stimulated my sense of imagination.
Growing up on the east coast, specifically the Florida peninsula, I was accustomed to being surrounded by the ocean and living in a high-humidity environment. The desire to experience the polar opposite: the dry, hot, desert has always been a wild dream of mine. So I made my dream a reality and traveled to Big Water, UT for the month of April in 2023. My trip was fueled by the desire for exploration and the aspiration to challenge myself by living in a completely foreign environment.
I am an entrepreneur that works remotely. I like to take full advantage of this flexibility while prioritizing checking off bucket list adventures. Immersing myself in the southern state of Utah, the natural elements spurred an internal awakening. While hiking many miles in the red dirt terrain, the simple beauty of the arid vast land encouraged my imagination to run wild; this is the mindset and contentment I pursue.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is not easy. If it were, everyone would do it. Of course, there have been bumps along the way, as every other person encounters in their life. I think the important part is trying to enjoy the journey and embrace the difficult parts. When you arrive at your destination and reflect upon the trip, the hardships are what challenged you and forced you to grow. The hardships are where you find out about your true character.
No one likes to face adversity, during these times I try to take a deep breath, assess the problem, and adapt to the situation at hand. Believing in yourself is half the battle, set your goals and put in the work. Don’t be your own worst enemy, be your biggest cheerleader. Skys are the limit, you just have to pick yourself up off the ground to achieve it. Traveling forces you to embrace the challenges and enjoy the journey when traveling down the road of life.
One rocky situation I encountered on my travels in southern Utah was a flat tire. I was planning to explore the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. I approached the entrance and was directed to where to park to access the sandboarding on the dunes. I secured my sandboard rental, hopped back in my car, and started trekking in the direction mentioned by the helpful park ranger.
Driving in my car, I heard the tire smacking against the road and realized something was amiss. I pull into the first available parking spot, and to my dismay see that the tire is flat. Assessing the situation, I realized I was in the right place to sandboard down the coral-pink dunes. I made the swift decision to change the flat tire first, proceed with the fun activity of sandboarding, and then drive into the local town to have a new tire installed. Business first then pleasure. I am proud of how I handled the situation, stayed calm, and maintained complete confidence in myself.Getting a flat tire, or having mechanical issues is always a possibility when traveling on the road, not letting it disrupt your mindset is the real challenge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Artist/Creative – I am an entrepreneur and a business owner. I run a marketing and business management company online, helping other small businesses grow. I truly enjoy the line of work I am in because I get to think creatively for other businesses, while growing my own business.
Graphic design, logo creation, website development, social media management, marketing and advertising are a few specialized services offered by my company. My ambition to work for myself has been challenging yet extremely rewarding. Pouring hard work into myself, and my business allows me to see the fruits of my labor blossom before my eyes. I would not want to work harder for anyone else but myself.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
No risk no reward, simple as that. I am a risk taker and I do believe taking precautionary risks are required to achieve your goal. If you are not taking risks or pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, I believe that you are not challenging yourself enough to reach your full potential.
How do you react under pressure, will you remain calm, cool, and collected or will you crumble under an unsteady foundation? Not all aspects of your life should be “risky”. Properly assessing risk is crucial for success. Experience and knowledge are helpful when making a decision or committing to taking a risk. Equip yourself well and you will feel you can take on risks more frequently.
