Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Freeman.
Hi Autumn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We are a small family business that initially started as an all-boys apparel company. After all, we know boys! I have 5 boys of my own ranging from 26 years to 10 years. I also have 2 grandsons, Ledge & Nix! This is something I have always wanted to do but after the birth of my first grandson, Nixon, and a very scary cancer diagnosis that almost took my life in September 2021, I decided it was time to act on this dream.
My partner is my beautiful daughter-in-law, who is also the mother of my second-born grandson, Ledger. Together we hope to build this business to the point that we can actively give back to cancer research. While my cancer has no cure right now, maybe there will be one in the future. So here we are now, trying to give people the cutest and most comfortable line of clothing they can find at a reasonable price! We began as NIX & Co, and when Ledger was born, we rebranded to Ledge & Nix.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has not been a smooth road. We have struggled to bring customers into our online store and put our clothing line out there to be noticed.
The amazing customers we do have are always repeat customers because they see the quality of our clothes. We are truly thankful for those customers and their loyal support.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe that what sets us apart is the long line of boys in this family. My husband had one brother, who lost his battle with cancer many years ago. My husband and I have 5 boys.
And now our boys have their boys! We feel this is unique and have striven to put cute and comfortable clothes out there. While trying to price them in such a way that they are affordable to all. We have added a few girl pieces and a lot of our line is uni-sex.
Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We have found most of our success has come from different showcase markets. Everything from Farmers’ Markets to Boutique-type markets. Our Instagram has been very slow growing so that is for sure our weakest link.
