Meet Mitchell England

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitchell England.

Mitchell England

Hi Mitchell, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My obsession with photography started with the disposable cameras my parents would get for me when I was a kid. I loved taking pictures of animals, plants, and architecture.

It was always so exciting to fill the film roll and then go and get it developed. When I got to high school, I had the opportunity to take a photography class and learn everything about 35 mm film cameras.

This is where I developed my love for portrait photography. It was a way for me to interact, connect, and meet so many people. In college, I began to see the value in my work and so did many others. From that, I gained the confidence to build up my own photography business.

Even though I studied and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Aerospace, photography has never stopped being my passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been a few ways my journey has been tough. One of the biggest was finding value and confidence in my work.

Creating has always been something that I love to do but it was incredibly difficult to put a price tag on my work and believe that others would see its worth.

That has been an ongoing journey, but every picture I take is a testament to me that I am worth it and have something worth sharing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer. I specialize in portrait and event photography. I am known for my creative and striking portraits. My work ranges from outstanding conceptual images, and dazzling ballroom stills, to opulent wedding occasions.

The diversity and breadth of my work is what sets me apart as a photographer. I am most proud of how my images hold to the moments and the memories they represent. They each carry a story and I love to share them.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think my ability to understand and empathize with people has been my greatest asset. I can see people as they are and the beauty they hold.

In high school, we were getting critiques on our work and my photography teacher remarked that every single person in my portraits looks so comfortable.

That was the greatest compliment because I always tried to connect with the person I was photographing. This search for connection has not only allowed me to help people pose more naturally but also develop a network.
