Daily Inspiration: Meet Kaylee Bucio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Bucio.

Kaylee Bucio

Hi Kaylee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Gifted Child Kaylee began singing as a young toddler. I noticed she would memorize songs at a young age. I decided to take her to a voice teacher, to which the teacher was reluctant to take such a young child. However, Kaylee’s charm and personality convinced her, and she began her training 15 minutes a week and then later to 1 hour a week.

Her first performance was for a Hospital Benefit program singing to over 200 people and she had to stand on a table so she could be seen. At the age of 8, Kaylee had over 20 songs memorized and currently has over 100 songs. She still has that ability to memorize at 12 years old I guess you can say she has the gift of memorization.

At the tender age of 8 Kaylee entered the singing competition “Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza” She was quickly noticed by Mariachi Vargas. Miss Bucio took the competition by storm and beat all divisions, elementary, Jr. High School, High School, and College. She was able to open for Mariachi Vargas at the magnificent Lila Cockrell Theatre | San Antonio TX. In 2020, she was invited to sing at the Chicago Symphony Center where she received a great standing ovation.

The pandemic – in 2020 the pandemic brought a halt to her presentations. However, this did not stop her from recording a 10-song album titled “Tributo a Cri-Cri” (composer Francisco Gabilondo Soler of Mexico). Musical Arrangements by Maestro Manuel Garza of Eagle Pass, Texas vocals recorded in Salt Lake City. The songs written in the 50s were brought to life by Kaylee’s charm and personality.

In 2021, she won the online Festiba Mariachi Festival 2021 UTRGV (The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg Texas) with the song from her album “El Jicote Aguamielero”.

In 2022, Mariachi Music Festival (producer Ben Mendez) was again on the National Spotlight as she wins first place in the Elementary Division with the song “Pelea de Gallos”. She was invited to perform to a full house at the prestigious Wortham Theatre in Houston Texas.

She has been invited to sing the National Anthem for many events, rodeos, games, conventions, and at the Utah State Capitol for legislative meetings. 2023 is scheduled to have her concert on August 4th accompanied by a live band and singing Mariachi songs accompanied by Folklorico dancers.

Singing and taking voice lessons is not the only thing this young lady does she, loves to draw, design clothes, studies the piano and guitar. She is a 4.0 student and will be attending Middle School in September of 2023.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the beginning struggles were learning English as she only spoke Spanish. People making big promises and never coming thru.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Plan on continuing with my music, piano, voice guitar, and art. I want to aim at being prepared to audition for college scholarships.
