Life & Work with Sara Elbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Elbert.

Sara Elbert

Hi Sara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In the heart of South Jordan’s vibrant Daybreak community, I am the CEO of Daybreak Treasures Boutique LLC, where I am weaving a tapestry of support for local businesses, artists, authors, and families. As a mother of five, an educator, and an entrepreneur, I strive to nurture and serve. By curating collections of gifts from local artisans, artists, and authors. I plan to uplift and support the dreams of local families, artists, and creators through a vision that combines local support, artistic expression, and community engagement.

My Origin Story: My career began at the age of 17 when I stepped into my first official job at a gift shop. My experience of bringing joy to people’s lives with unique gifts left an indelible mark. As I continued my education, majoring in human development and art with a minor in computer science, my love for creativity and learning flourished. Becoming a mother ignited a desire to balance my career and family life, leading me to become a science teacher for over two decades. My expertise spans art integration, educational technology, and science, a testament to my multifaceted interests.

Throughout my life’s journey, I consistently gravitated towards small businesses, bookstores, art galleries, and family-owned restaurants. These places weren’t just stores; they were the heartbeats of communities. My support for these local businesses transformed them into extended families.  I was supporting dreams coming true.

With Daybreak’s small-town charm and an abundance of artists, authors, and small businesses, I found the perfect canvas to paint my legacy. Daybreak Treasures Boutique was born from my desire to nurture creative abilities, support local dreams, and create lasting connections. The boutique is in its infancy, but it’s already attracting an array of talented contributors, with plans for expansion in the months ahead.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Balancing the roles of a mother, career woman, and boutique owner tests my time management skills daily. While I’m eager for ideas to materialize instantly, I am learning to take each step in stride, savoring each phase of the boutique’s development.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am known for my ability to ignite creativity in others. My background in both science and the arts makes me a Renaissance-type person. I employ various creative mediums, from singing and dancing to painting and digital art, to inspire others to explore their artistic sides. Throughout my career, I not only taught science but also integrated art and technology into my lessons. My contributions to arts, science, and technology in education have made me a showcase teacher and a mentor for my peers.

Community Involvement:  My commitment to the arts in Daybreak is evident through my involvement with the Daybreak Arts Council.  I support the community by volunteering at LiveDAYBREAK Events and by being on the Event Planning Committees.  I am a part of the LiveDAYBREAK Volunteer Activities Council. I support local businesses by being an administrator of the Daybreak Businesses Group and the Daybreak Networking Group.  We host meetups at local restaurants and other events that convene multiple times a month.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
To support Daybreak Treasures Boutique and its mission, I encourage everyone to shop small businesses and explore the works of local artists, authors, and small business owners. Purchasing from our collections not only nurtures creativity but also brings unique gifts, adventurous written getaways, and beautiful artwork into your life or the lives of your loved ones. For those interested in collaborating or contributing to the boutique, I welcome connections with local artists, writers, illustrators, crafters, and more. Additionally, Daybreak Treasures Boutique is fundraising to move into a local brick-and-mortar shop. Contributions and support for this endeavor are welcomed. I am open to meet-ups and discussions to explore potential collaborations.
