Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Rodriguez.

Eric Rodriguez

Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Since my teenage years, I always had an attachment to music. More specifically, electronic music. It was during those formative years that I discovered that music possesses an unparalleled power to boost my emotions. This revelation paved the way for music to become my steadfast companion through even the darkest times of my life. There exists an indescribable sensation that accompanies stumbling upon that perfect track – the one that resonates so profoundly that it seems to strike at the very essence of my being. Music, to me, is more than just mere notes; it’s an art form, a conduit through which emotions flow. It’s like channeling one’s innermost feelings into a symphony of sound, meticulously crafting frequencies that harmonize into melodies capable of casting a spell, transporting me into a euphoric trance. The world outside dissolves and dilemmas fade into insignificance.

Now, with my music-loving journey as a backdrop, the notion of becoming a DJ had always sparkled in my mind like a distant star of untold excitement, yet I hardly dared to grasp it. Similarly, the art of music production was an interest of mine, and in the year 2016, the spark ignited within me, and I dove into music production. As I swam through the world of producers and beatsmiths, an undeniable truth revealed itself—I hungered to master the dance between tracks as a DJ. Then, in the summer of 2017, Orlandis emerged and harmonized with my dreams. The tale of how I came up with my name paints a vivid narrative: borne from the shared middle name “Orlando” with my cousin Hector, the collaborative duo Orlandis was born. Yet, as life’s currents carried him to fresh horizons, I now proudly stand as the sole bearer of that resounding emblem, a maestro of music, and a spinner of beats.

Present day, I have meticulously cultivated a professional identity within Utah. I undertake a diverse array of events, encompassing a spectrum that spans weddings, bars, clubs, school dances, and more. Additionally, owing to my bilingual proficiency, a substantial portion of my engagements pertains to bilingual weddings, wherein I seamlessly intertwine linguistic and musical harmonies to create a truly comprehensive experience for my clients.

My present standing owes a considerable debt to the gracious guidance extended by fellow local DJs, who imparted invaluable wisdom instrumental to my journey thus far. As I learned from other fellow DJs, I’m now aspiring to provide mentorship, aiding others in finding their identity where success becomes an attainable reality for all who orbit my sphere of influence.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. Some struggles I had were figuring out what type of equipment to buy, where to buy DJ-exclusive music, and how to get bookings.

As I gained more traction in the industry, I had to figure out how to pace myself with bookings because I was getting burned out by overworking myself. There were moments when I was so busy, that I couldn’t handle it mentally or physically and almost quit several times. Setting up and breaking down for events can be very physically demanding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a DJ and I am capable of playing versatile types of events like weddings, bars, clubs, school dances, and more. I would say I specialize in weddings because I am good at doing them, especially bilingual weddings.

I am proud of my people skills. I try to communicate as clearly as possible with my clients so they know what exactly to expect from me and accommodate their needs. For an event to go smoothly, planning and communication are key between the DJ and the event hosts.

I think what sets me apart from others is that I take my time to talk to my clients to make their visions become a reality about their event. Another thing that sets me apart is that since I am bilingual, I know how to intertwine the best of both Spanish and English music.

I am known for focusing on my mixing capabilities. Part of the reason why I love DJing is being creative with blending songs together and doing clean transitions. When I’m performing, I focus on keeping the energy flowing and I do that by transitioning from one song to the next seamlessly.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that people might not know about me is that I have become more introverted.

I used to be super outgoing and I still can be sometimes, but because I perform so often all my energy goes into preparing for my gigs. So on my days off, I REALLY enjoy some peace and quiet.
