Community Highlights: Meet Hailey Krey of Ascendant Tracker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Krey.

Hailey Krey

Hi Hailey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a big passion for mental health and chronic illness. At the age of 15, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis. (yes, kids get arthritis too). That experience, although traumatic, lit a fire underneath me to make a positive impact in the world – as cliche as that might sound. I wanted to be an example to other people struggling and help them know they were not alone in their fight. I first started with a children’s book for kids with arthritis.

It’s a book helping them better understand their diagnosis and also have hope that they can still live and happy life despite the challenges they face. I wrote the book with the help of the pediatric rheumatology team at Primary Children’s Hospital. After my college years of competing on the women’s tennis team for both BYU Hawaii and BYU Provo – I started Ascendant Tracker to help individuals gain greater awareness and control of their anxiety and depression and to help therapists track patient progress.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say my health has probably been my biggest struggle to this day. I have times of “quiet” disease and times of “loud” disease when it’s a struggle to even get out of bed in the mornings. When it comes to running a business everyone always tells you to grind grind grind.

I’ve ground myself way too many times to the point of burnout and exhaustion. Especially as someone who has a chronic illness. I’m still learning to balance my health and my work and have decided to take my entrepreneurial ventures to the side while I focus on my family (just had my first child 1 year ago) and adding to my skill sets.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ascendant Tracker is something I am proud of.

We’ve been able to help hundreds of therapists more efficiently track patient progress and gather more data throughout treatment to produce higher-quality care. How it works. We have a mobile app that patients use to track their mental health symptoms, journal, and complete mental health assessments. We take that data visualize it and organize it for the mental health provider to interpret and inform care with their patient.

We just started an RCT (randomized control trial) to measure the effectiveness of our technology in improving treatment outcomes of anxiety and depression and the working alliance of patients and providers. We have learned so much as we’ve built this platform. The most rewarding thing is hearing providers have positive interactions with their clients because of the data Ascendant Tracker is gathering.

If you want to try and use Ascendant Tracker to track your mental health patterns you can download it for free on any App Store – just search for Ascendant Tracker. If you are a provider interested in our provider portal and using Ascendant with your clients feel free to contact us through our website at ascendanttracker.com

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Atomic habits. Any Brene Brown books. Atlas of the Heart blew my mind! A Quiet Heart by Patricia Holland is a book I read every year.

You’re a badass but Jen Sincero.
