Daily Inspiration: Meet Allyssa Aponte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allyssa Aponte.

ALLYSSA APONTE

Hi Allyssa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career as a beauty artist doing Permanent Makeup. I believe that permanent makeup is meant to enhance the natural beauty that you have. I started this apparel line, PMU Crew, as an addition because I have always struggled with body positivity with myself.

I want to encourage natural beauty and loving yourself for who you are through the beauty industry. I wanted to add some of that love by sharing body positivity and enjoyment through clothing as well. I want my kids to know how important it is to love yourself and to know you have the power to do whatever you want!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting your own business is never easy, especially in a world where everyone is trying so hard to be the best and to appeal to everyone. It’s hard to stand out and be seen without pretending. I try hard to be myself but also step out of my comfort zone to inspire other women to feel seen.

All bodies are beautiful and so are our minds. I struggle to feel like I am worthy of success and not compare myself to others. The thought of so many other successful businesses out there sometimes makes me feel like I could never get to that point but that’s when you just need to hold tight to what you believe and give yourself some extra grace.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Permanent Makeup especially microblading eyebrows. Helping others feel beautiful in their skin is an incredible feeling. I have a similar feeling in my apparel brand. I find other small businesses to support by putting their designs on comfortable cute tees and sweatshirts. I hope that my brand allows those who wear it to feel empowered and seen. I am so proud of the fact that I have 3 children, a husband, 2 jobs, and I’m able to make it all work.

We are adopting two kids next month who have had extremely rough lives and my husband and I’s goal is to be able to give us a future where we can spend quality family time together making good memories. Creating financial freedom will give us that opportunity. I think what sets my brand apart from other beauty and apparel brands is that I am encouraging and creating natural enhancements to your skin and what you put on your skin.

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by a couple of things. I think success is based on accomplishing goals, gaining confidence, and creating happiness.

I don’t think success is at the end of a journey, I think it is along the way. Accomplishing smaller yet just as important goals as the bigger ones is imperative to not only having success but also feeling successful.
