Inspiring Conversations with Roshani Pandey of True Root Financial

Roshani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

My story begins with a deep-seated desire to live up to my fullest potential, a driving force that has always resided within me. What gives me the most fulfillment in life is using my experience, understanding, and imagination to build something that is not only meaningful to me but also useful for other people.

This desire inspired me to become an entrepreneur and start my own personal finance advisory business. As a financial advisor, I have had the privilege of helping my clients with investing and financial planning, guiding them toward their financial goals and dreams. One of the most fulfilling aspects of entrepreneurship is witnessing the growth and success of my clients.

Originally from Nepal, I came to the United States many years ago to pursue a college education. My parents and family still live in Nepal. While my roots are tied to Nepal, I have wholeheartedly embraced the culture of the United States. My instinct is to unite people and build bridges rather than divide them based on where we were born or grew up.

Beyond entrepreneurship, my heart lies in supporting charitable causes, especially those focused on young children, youths, and education.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The constant challenge we all face is listening to our inner voice, not seeking validation from others, and daring to dream the dream that ignites our souls. Life is fleeting, and waiting for others’ approval can be a costly gamble.

My career in the financial industry, while stable, left me yearning for something more. I had chewed on the idea of starting my own business for many years but could never take the leap as I feared failure and worried about what others might think if I failed.

I chose instead to drown out the inner voice and stick to the familiar path, even when it no longer fulfilled me. I was trying to convince myself that it was a “safer” option. But the echo of my inner voice persisted, slowly chipping away at my happiness and focus.

Eventually, I learned that embracing that ‘hard’ work of heeding your inner voice and following your true path is the easiest thing you can do. It’s simpler than resisting it and walking a path that doesn’t align with your essence.

I’ve made strides in overcoming these challenges and starting my own business was one such triumph. Yet, the journey is a perpetual one. As we tune in to our inner voice, it grows louder and more distinct, unveiling fresh paths for us to explore. These new journeys, I believe, are where our soul’s true calling beckons and can lead us to the most fulfillment and personal satisfaction.

Thank you for your kind support. The driving force behind my career has always been a desire to use my knowledge to serve others. After working for financial giants such as Goldman Sachs and BlackRock for several years, I felt like I was using only a small portion of my capabilities to serve. I had so much more to give but was keeping myself small to fit a mold.
