Daily Inspiration: Meet Noah Lahn and Rowen Kenny

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Lahn and Rowen Kenny.

Noah Lahn Rowen Kenny

Hi Noah and Rowen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Rowen (Flaming Gorge) and Noah (BLŪMĒ) were born at the same hospital in Madison, Wisconsin on the same night. Our moms were part of the same maternity group. Noah and his family moved back to Germany while my family moved to Salt Lake City. Noah came to the United States when he was 18 and stopped in Utah, where we spent some time together and wrote a song. We had both been working on music for quite a while already. Earlier this year, in March, I got the opportunity to travel to Europe.

One place I had wanted to go was Berlin, so I got to meet Noah again. During this time we wrote what would become “I will be better the next time I see you”. I think we both felt really happy with it, but oftentimes when you are writing so much music it is easy for things to be forgotten or lost. Luckily, Noah ended up showing the song to the rest of his band, and they decided to ask me if they could flesh it out and finish it. I was super excited that people were enjoying it, so I agreed.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Noah: The main challenge of working to put this song together was, without a doubt, that we were working internationally. With us in Germany and Rowen out in Utah, we had to navigate a pretty gnarly time change as well as some communication issues. What was originally just a collaboration between me and Rowen suddenly became a group project of multiple people.

Finishing the song became more and more challenging as we had to figure out how to compromise all members of a full band, engineers, photographers, and videographers. We had to delay the song several times but Rowen luckily got to return to Berlin in the summer so we could finish the song. It’s amazing how quickly it came together when we all met in person.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Rowen: I have been writing music since I was twelve years old. Throughout this time, I have played in several bands. The first real opportunity I got to have touring/playing shows was with an artist named Buppy. Nowadays, I am much more focused on my solo project, which is Flaming Gorge. I think my strongest abilities are arrangement, melody, and lyrics. I am most proud of how deliberately I craft songs, and I think that is also what sets me apart. I have lots of new songs ready to release, so make sure to keep a lookout for those.

Noah: BLŪMĒ started releasing music last summer, so we’re still a newcomer band. Having the opportunity to be placed in two big Spotify playlists (Fresh Finds Germany Switzerland Austria) and Indie Brandnew with our latest single “Lethargy”, we were able to present our music to a much bigger audience. As a German band, one of our big goals is to be recognized internationally. I think that drive propels our music and videos to exceptional heights. We are proud about our album “Everything is Going to Be Ok.”, which will be released in early 2024.

How do you think about luck?
Rowen: We get chances in life that afford us certain opportunities, but that should not be prioritized over the fact that all of us have put thousands of hours over many years into our skills as musicians and artists.

We have had the good fortune to be able to meet up in person again and finish the song, but we discover that very rarely do things ever just fall into your lap.
