Rising Stars: Meet Guillaume Bigot

Today we’d like to introduce you to Guillaume Bigot.

Guillaume Bigot

Hi Guillaume, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
What’s up y’all! My name is Guillaume. I have been taking pictures since I was in high school in small-town Wichita Falls, Texas. I graduated from law school out of San Antonio in 2019. I met my (now) wife during that time while she was finishing her graduate education. She was finishing medical school and discovered only one true passion in my life that remained constant throughout our relationship: photography. We both graduated with our respective graduate degrees only for us to subsequently move to Fort Worth, Texas to begin her residency program. It was there that my work with law became less and less and my work behind a lens became more and more.

Fast forward to 2021. My wife has just begun residency and I have elected to start my first business amidst a pandemic in the DFW area. Experiencing success in all directions, we decided to elevate our lifestyle (literally) by moving to Utah. She had accepted her first big girl job post-residency and my business model was flexible enough to restart in a new location. Together we had found our new beginning. Since then, I have been helping individuals, families, groups, affiliations, and corporations bring their best foot forward and showing the world what they’re truly capable of (and how good they look doing it). I have yet to look back.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Times have not always been smooth. I pursued law school following my undergraduate career and attained my JD. After three failed attempts to pass the bar in Texas, I worked with a company that was looking for a JD grad. However, my passion to push through this exhausting exam was dying yet I was still hungry to do something great. I just was pointed in the wrong direction.

It was then that my (now wife) girlfriend bought me my first official big-boy camera lens and told me to pursue photography seriously without looking back.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve found that what sets me apart from others is that I love spending time with new people and can be very people-friendly. No matter what a client or consumer is being sold, they always want to like the people they are buying the service or product from.

I’ve found that it elevates my work. Sure most people can learn the basics of photography through the many facets and styles to what can objectively make a piece of work great. But getting your work to tell a story is what will make it last for ages. Getting quickly through the thick of it and allowing people to feel comfortable and be themselves around me. That’s when the work shines. I call it, making an image “4-dimensional”.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Shoot. Shoot again. Shoot some more. Make mistakes. Overexpose. Underexpose. Find yourself, your style, and what gets you most excited.

Like anything you will excel at in life, passion has to be there. Some will not understand what that is or where it will come from. However when you find it you will know. It’s very clear. It’s the one thing in life you will strive to be better at no matter the circumstance. It’s the one thing in your life where an unconditional smile coexists within your spirit.

So when you find it, harness it’s potential and always make sure that passion propels you towards your greater goals.
