Marcus Edwards

Hi Iam_goldeneyes, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Goldeneyes.

My interest in photography began at a young age. I remember being in elementary school when my mom purchased me my first Polaroid camera for a field trip. Being so excited, I took pictures of everything I laid my eyes on. As I got older, I found myself participating in sports, which took time away from my photography, but I never lost my passion for it.

Fast forwarding to my adult years, it wasn’t until I moved to New York City from California that photography had found its way back into my life. Not owning a camera at the time, I began taking pictures with my phone of landscapes, people, and all New York has to offer.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Let’s fast forward again just a little. Without a doubt, life has been challenging, to say the least. There was a time when I found myself homeless for 7 months, sleeping in a storage unit in West New York, New Jersey.

Trying to stay afloat, I worked various jobs from selling cigarettes in Grand Concourse in the Bronx to working security gigs at Yankee Stadium to make ends meet. I eventually landed my current job as a mail carrier at the United States Postal Service (USPS). Finally feeling like Lady Luck was on my side and things were looking up for me, I broke my wrist.

Again, I found myself in another tough spot, so I thought. But while unemployed, I made one of the best decisions of my life. I decided to buy a professional camera and see if I still had an eye to capture that perfect picture.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Through all of life’s ups and downs, I’m proud to carry the title of a photographer/videographer with my focus being photography. Being a jack of all trades when it comes to photography has been a great asset because I find myself not creating limitations on my work.

I enjoy shooting a variety of subject matters such as animals, landscapes, and models, but the possibilities are indeed endless. Someone once asked, “What am I known for?” I would have to say the name of my company and its uniqueness. Similar to the pictures I shoot. My biggest accomplishment thus far would have to be my pictures being featured in Forbes magazine, which spotlights two of my talented clients.

I think what sets me apart from all the other photographers is my style and approach to capturing images. My ultimate goal is to be mentioned with the great photographers of the world that came before me. Those who helped to pave the way for people who look like me in this industry.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I would consider myself a laid-back guy.

The way I look at life is simple. It’s too short and at any moment it can be taken from you. Knowing that I spend my days living how I want and doing the things that I love.

Close your eyes and picture it…..
