Today, we’d like to introduce you to Danny Kawai and Jake Follette.
Hi Danny and Jake, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I (Danny) was 14, I saw my dad performing in a rock cover band. It was the coolest shit I had ever seen. Immediately, I texted three of my friends, none of which played instruments, and put together a band. Later that year, while ditching PE class, our guitarist Jake decided to join, and the final piece of the puzzle was complete.
And then 3 years of s***** blink 182 covers, playing shows for free at pizza places, and losing every battle of the bands you can think of, our love of music triumphed all odds and we started playing pretty good blink 182 covers!
And thanks to our amazing fans and the incredible local music community, we can put out music and do what we love!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth.
WE. CAN. NOT. HOLD. A. DRUMMER.
Also, we dated the same girl.
But all well that ends well!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’d say we make a unique sound that combines classic rock, pop punk, grunge, and indie that really stands out.
We’re proud of our live shows. We love seeing people show up, and we always have a great time!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
We’re lucky enough to be in this great community of local musicians! We’re just lucky to have found an audience at all, considering our music is super niche.
