Today, we’d like to introduce you to Brian Nielsen.
Hi Brian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Roam Ranch all started with making minimalist elastic wallets called Roam wallets. That hobby grew into a business, and the wallets were eventually sold at every REI and SCHEELS nationwide. We then used some funding from that venture to purchase 10 acres of land from extended family and transformed that property into what is now known as the Roam Ranch.
The land is a continuous work in progress but currently has a furnished yurt for vacation rental, two ski/snowboard terrain parks with a rope tow, a mountain bike flow trail, a 9-hole disc golf course, and an A-frame cabin being built by myself and my dad to be complete by early summer 2024. To bring things full circle, we give guests 2 Roam Wallets when they come for their visit.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road with a few bumpy spots along the way.
Just like with any venture, there’s a learning curve, and how you choose to adapt when you get thrown a curveball can affect your outcome. My approach with this venture is to have a goal but, at the same time, have realistic expectations.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Roam Ranch LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand, what can you tell them?
The Roam Ranch is a 10 acre property for vacation rental. The rental includes a furnished yurt for “glamping” and, depending on the season, can include two ski/snowboard terrain parks with a rope tow, a sledding area, a mountain bike flow trail, a nine-hole disc golf course, and a BBQ and fire pit area.
A modern A-frame cabin will be available later this year as well. The ranch truly is a labor of love with everything built by myself and my dad, Marc.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We love working with brands who have been willing to donate products for our guests when they come for a stay. We’ve had everything from beverage companies and snack/bar companies to outdoor gear companies donate products and goods for our guests.
Another thing that has helped create awareness for the Roam Ranch is working with likeminded social media influencers. Collaborating with others has been a key element to business.
