Daily Inspiration: Meet Haley Toner

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Haley Toner.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh wow, yeah, it hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to try a lot of different things along the way. As an entrepreneur, you always want to strive toward your next big goal or idea, but in reality, you have to be willing to learn from your mistakes so you can get the place you want to be. You have to be able to make hard decisions on behalf of your business.

In the last few years, I’ve moved salons a few times to find the right fit for my clients and me, and I think I’ve finally found it at LIV salons. One of the hardest things about being a small business owner is I’ve doubted myself a lot along the way or been terrified to make my next move. But fear doesn’t define us. We just need to look ahead and focus on what we want our future to be like.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in hair extensions for fine hair and hair loss; recently, I’ve added mesh integration to my business so I can help women who suffer from hair loss. This kind of work means everything to me because I can give someone their confidence back and the hair of their dreams. A lot of these clients have literally tried everything and need a solution. The clients I’ve worked with have been kind and genuine in every way, and I’m so grateful to work with them and do this line of work. It truly inspires me because I can make a difference in someone’s life.

I’m known most for my coloring. I love creating dimensional colors for my clients that fade out beautifully. I do a lot of lived-in color for low-maintenance girlies, dimensional colors, vibrant coppers/reds, and gray coverage. I strive to give each and every client a unique and personalized experience. Creative coloring makes such a difference for my clients because we truly nail down what they want out of their color and how it can complement their own personal style.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I definitely recommend investing in yourself and your education as a stylist. Not only in hair, but consumerism, marketing, social media, and fashion. It’s essential to network and market yourself within the beauty industry. Take a chance on yourself and reach out to a local stylist in your area whose work you admire and see if you can assist, shadow, or take them to lunch.

You may be surprised by what you can learn from someone who is 5, 10, or 20 years ahead of the starting line. I invest in my education every year, I have subscriptions, I listen to podcasts, and I try new things all the time to see what works and what doesn’t.
