Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ty Bush.
Hi Ty, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
In March 2023, I had an idea to start a basketball league for 8.5 ft basketball hoops (lower than the standard 10ft). I was in school at BYU at the time and heard from someone that between UVU and BYU, there were over 200 basketball intramural teams, so I figured the execution of this idea would be smooth sailing. But nobody signed up.
So we hosted some open gyms at a court where I happened to know a couple of the guys who worked there because I had trained with them previously. After getting video content to market a little bit more, our brand started to grow, hosting six tournaments in the next four months and never slowing down.
We started to get media attention nationwide as our videos reached people from all over the country. Now, in April 2024, our plan is to reach people from all over the country as we prepare to go on tour this summer to go to 20 cities in the United States in 25 days, meeting people, playing dunk ball, and growing the community.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
– We couldn’t originally find a gym.
– Nobody signed up for our first league despite our marketing efforts.
– I needed to make jerseys.
– It’s difficult to prepare to go on tour right now and find sponsorships for it.
– As a business owner, I am filling all the roles of the company and learning as I go.

I was a student at BYU when I started DB Jam League.
I still take a class or two at BYU, but it’s never really been my thing, especially since the path I want to take is creating something myself and being able to change and influence the world for the better.

Chasing your dreams and finding fulfillment alongside the people that you love while helping others be inspired to chase their dreams.
