Today we’d like to introduce you to Karrie and Luis Prado.
Hi Karrie and Luis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We have always shared the goal of achieving financial freedom throughout our relationship. We come from families that have struggled financially and are determined to break the cycle. Our journey to financial freedom started a few years ago when Luis invested $5,000 in a stock. The stock’s value skyrocketed, to our surprise, and Luis cashed out with $20,000. We saw this as an opportunity to start our journey towards financial freedom. We used the money to buy a small lot in Bear Lake, which steadily increased in value over time. When we realized that the value of our property was growing, we decided to sell it and invest in something more significant. So, we sold it for $100,000 and used the money to buy our first rental property. After owning our rental property for a year, we decided to use the income we were receiving for something bigger. We knew we were ready to own a business. We acquired Suit Up and spent much time learning about the art of suits. We studied everything from the history of fabrics to the different cuts and materials available. Karrie has always had a creative mind and enjoyed exploring different colors and styles, while Luis has always been interested in the business aspects of running a company. Together, we run Suit Up.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve been very fortunate that our journey has mostly been smooth, but it hasn’t been easy. From the beginning until now, we both have been working full-time while trying to raise our children. Karrie was pregnant when we sold our stock and bought our Bear Lake property, and the pandemic was ongoing. It can be exhausting, and after a long day at work, it’s hard to come home and work some more. One of the significant challenges we faced was the need for more knowledge and self-learning. We had to research and educate ourselves on what we were doing. It’s doing something for the first time, which is scary when you don’t know and are learning along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
Our wedding suits are what we are most known for. At Suit Up, we are dedicated to creating a space where grooms can shine on their wedding day. Unfortunately, grooms are often seen as just accessories, or they don’t need to know all the options available regarding colors and styles. At Suit Up, we believe that a groom should feel and look his best on his wedding day. At Suit Up, we aim to inspire grooms to move beyond traditional black suits and embrace colors or accents that reflect their unique personalities. Our made-to-measure approach sets us apart, meticulously capturing over 24 measurements to ensure each Suit is tailored precisely to the individual.
