Hidden Gems: Meet Brady Webb of Advanced Spine and Pain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brady Webb.

Brady Webb

Hi, Brady; we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a physician. I had many exposures to the medical field in junior high, high school, and college. In medical school, I was drawn to anesthesiology as I loved providing comfort and pain relief to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. While in my anesthesiology residency, I worked in a chronic pain clinic and was moved by these physicians’ impact on their patient’s quality of life. As one of these patients tearfully explained how much better her life had become since being treated at this clinic, I knew that this was a profession I wanted to pursue. After completing my anesthesiology residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, I completed a fellowship in interventional pain management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Since completing my fellowship training, I have worked at Advanced Spine and Pain, where I’ve been able to decrease pain and improve the quality of life for many of my patients here in Utah.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t believe there is a smooth road in life. There is a severely restricted class size at the University of Utah medical school, which forces most Utah residents to undergo medical training outside of Utah. This led my wife and I to move away from family and friends to a state we had never been to. I studied and worked roughly 80 hours per week for 9 years. During this time, my wife held two full-time jobs, gave birth to three of our four children, and financially and emotionally supported all of us.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Advanced Spine and Pain?
We help patients suffering from various pain conditions regain function and restore quality of life. Advanced Spine and Pain offers state-of-the-art therapies and the most comprehensive treatment options. Through aggressively treating pain conditions, we believe the opioid crisis our country and communities face can be corrected. Advanced Spine and Pain also offers a full complement of opioid addiction treatment options.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Empathy is most important when working in pain management.
