Life & Work with Dale & Monique Golding of Provo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dale & Monique Golding

Hi Dale & Monique , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For a long time Dale has dreamed of owning a food truck, but he had a hard time narrowing down what he wanted to do. The specific inspiration for our business came during a family trip to Olympic National Park. One evening, while bonfiring late, on a seemingly abandoned beach, a lone stargazer wandered by and asked to share our fire. We welcomed her. During our chat she recommended we try some food places at our next stop; one was an ice cream place. After trying the ice cream we almost immediately looked at each other and knew this was the idea. We had never had anything like it close to where we lived and knew we wanted to introduce others.

This lit a fire in us that motivated us to action. We purchased an old 1970’s trailer a few months later. Dale spent hours, and hours, and many a late night rebuilding the trailer; he had good friends and family that helped him. Dale also attended conecon (an ice cream convention) to get a better handle on the scene. Monique took a rapid fire course in business. After months of building Monique helped with design to finish things out.

We look forward to more learning and hope to spread joy to others. One of our main mottos is “love you”- we hope people feel loved when they experience our business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Almost everything has been DIY this experience. Learn, relearn, try again, eventually figure it out. Seemed like things took longer than we ever intended and easy things were harder. We believe in what we’re doing. Finding the push to get through the setbacks wasn’t as hard because we believe in this. While it definitely has not been easy, it has been a real passion project for us, especially Dale. We have loved the hard because bit by bit we saw the good that was coming from it and believe in the good that can.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Dale is a nurse in the operating room. Monique is a pharmacist at a hospital. Being healthcare based workers we really love a chance to serve others and have a chance to help people. We hope the legacy we leave is one of kindness and acceptance- we both try to do this as coworkers and caregivers.

What makes you happy?
Nature. There is something about being out in Mother Nature that heals and ignites us. We are most happy outside with our 3 children and pet corgi learning and seeing new things. We love to experience the world.
