Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Whisenant
Hi Kristin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a licensed master esthetician for 20 years. I started my career as a master esthetician working in small day spas until I eventually worked for a top medical spa in Draper, Ut where I spent 6 years. In 2010 after my divorce, I felt it financially necessary to return to my former career as a paralegal. I missed the esthetics field so much and I had a client who begged me to let her come over to my house, on my couch to do her brow waxing and shaping, as she didn’t trust anyone else. She had many friends and acquaintances that would asked her who did her brows. She finally asked me if it would be okay if she referred more people to me. This prompted me to create a room in my home where I could do brows. My business kept growing from there. Eventually I purchased a microdermabrasion machine and was then offering that service. That service led to eventually buying a microneedling pen. Now I offer SkinSheek high frequency for removal of brown spots and other skin imperfections as well as SkinSheek High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for skin tightening and lifting.,
In June of 2018 I moved to Portland, OR and was working as a paralegal there. I also obtained my Oregon esthetics license and gathered a few clients there as well. I would fly to SLC every 6 weeks to work on my clients because they remained loyal to me. My unhappiness as a paralegal , my continued growth of my side business as an esthetician, as well as the client loyalty I experienced when moving to Portland prompted me to move back to SLC in September of 2019 to pursue my esthetics business full time. This move gave me the perspective and confidence I needed to finally go out on my own full time.
I pride myself on offering advanced anti-aging treatments to my clients at an affordable price, so that results can be achieved. I’m very results driven in my work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not smooth. I worked full time in a stressful paralegal career, while growing my esthetics business on the side. I was also a single mom. But my extraordinary love of esthetics and my clients kept me going. I really never thought I could go out on my own, without the support of a partner helping to pay the bills. But my move to Portland, OR gave me that confidence boost to change my career and life. It took 9 years for me to get to this point.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in anti-aging skin treatments – High Intensity Ultrasound (HIFU); microneedling; high frequency for sun spot, skin tag, broken capillaries removal; microdermabrasion, hydrofacials and chemical peels.
I’m also know for my perfectionism in creating a beautiful brow through waxing, tinting and shaping. I also do lash tints and lifts.
I offer advanced medical anti-aging treatments without the high costs, so my clients can afford to return on a monthly basis to achieve and maintain optimal results.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I keep up on the current trends and technology advancements in the industry. I plan to keep serving my clients to the best of my knowledge and expertise. I’m always accepting new clients and will continue to offer outstanding services at an affordable price.
