Meet Vanessa Alvarez of Simply the Best

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Alvarez

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Vanessa Alvarez, I come from Ecuador. I’m 22 years old. I came to the United States 5 years ago. I got my high school diploma here at Kearns high (just repeat my senior year cuz having a high school diploma here was a requirement for me to get into college) my main goal was learns English asap but covid happened so that changed my plans. But my major purpose was getting my bachelors degree, so I got my high school diploma and I went to Salt Lake Community College where I found ESL classes for me. And then I took regular courses there, my English wasn’t the Best but my purpose was. I wanted to be a Spanish Professor so I went into the education program.
I wanted to be a Spanish teacher cuz my AP class at high school sucked cuz the teacher didn’t speak fluent Spanish, and not just that, one day he didn’t show up and someone else was teaching the class and she hit me in the back in front of everyone cuz I didn’t speak English at the time so, that was one more motivation. Nobody did anything about it.
But well, in college I learned how to speak English and the plan was “after getting my associates I was gonna take a scholarship in Pensilvania” cuz they had a private scholarship that I was able to apply.
When I was gonna get my associates degree the college changed the program for my degree. Which I thought it wasn’t fair for me. Cuz I used to pay triple for my tuition (I was out-state student) so around 7k every semester. My parents helped me out with part of the tuition, however I had to find a private scholarship within the state, I found it and I got it, so that helped me to pay the rest.
At the end I fought for my associates degree and let every department (SLCC) know that it wasn’t fair that few months before I graduated they changed the program so they recognized that and they let me graduate. So I was finishing that but in the meantime I found a part time job at my fav restaurant so I applied and they gave it to me. I did just fine and 4 months later I graduated from College with Honors ! But was right there when I took the decision to open my own business. My bosses talked to me about the opportunity and I had a vision of what I wanted for me and the future and how this was going to help me help others in need.
I asked for a full time position so they tried their best and worked 365 days to get my money for my business. I got it.
I found a place or maybe the place found me. Simply the Best was here already when I took it, but it was destroyed in every single way. I had to start over again, from the scratch and I got it, Now I’ve been on the business side for over 3 months. This is the best experience ever ! Not regrets about my decision.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
– language
– discrimination
– less opportunities
– can get a good job
– not a lot people willing to help

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Simply the Best ?
I could say Simply The Best it’s kind of franchise however it’s not a franchise. This is a protein bar where we serve healthy options for breakfast, lunch like protein shakes protein, waffles, protein smoothie bowls, energy drinks, but not that we help people having results with the products when I’m talking about products I’m talking about Herbalife.
Herbalife is a network marketing company and its consider number one nutrition company in the world.
I think I wouldn’t say this, but my life has changed because of the products. since I was 15 years old, I suffer with colitis the products help me with my colitis, but not just that it changed a lot of lives. I have friends with anemia. I had friends with hemorrhoids. I have friends with gastritis and they found the solution with a better nutrition so I just trust the products. I trust the company and that’s why I took the decision to get into the business with Herbalife . I wouldn’t because I had a life already planned but the opportunity and overall the results were in another level.

Simply The Best 🤍 goal is help everyone to get a better life style and also good results with the products letting them know that we are not just a regular protein bar. We are a protein bar, but we sell Nutrición we sell results and we sell the dream you have a chance to have a better lifestyle.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I think having a mentor it’s key because you have someone already had done the work that you were gonna do someone who already walked into the road that you were gonna walk into. There’s no shortcuts but if you have someone by your side that knows what’s the way it’s better to walk without knowing where you are going.

When you were going to find a mentor, make sure you’re not just friends with that mentor
make sure she’s in a better position that you are right now which doesn’t mean that you’re not gonna grow further than she or he is right now
make sure it’s someone that you connect with
make sure there’s respect between each other And make sure you follow the steps that they are gonna show you
