Hi Lincoln, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been competitively climbing, gaining high levels of technique and skill, since I was 15. Since 2020, I’ve been sharing this passion by guiding friends and family on unforgettable climbing adventures. In the fall of 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to train under a renowned local climber and gym owner named Cristian in Athens, Greece.
He taught me how to tailor each climbing experience to the client’s comfort level. Bringing these invaluable skills back to the U.S., I launched my own climbing guiding business in March 2024. Ever since, I have been creating personalized, thrilling, and memorable climbing experiences for climbers of all levels.
I have taken awesome people from Ivy League professors to influencers on new experiences that they may never forget. I get to share the joy of nature and get people out of their comfort zone in a safe way. It truly is a blessing to be able to work in a way where my only goal is to bring people joy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The commercial permitting system in America is heavily flawed and after being in Greece, I struggled a lot with the USFS laws. There is a limited amount of permits that are always bought out by monopolistic companies. The USFS is understaffed and underpaid so the amount of temporary permits is also very limited. It is frustrating and designed in a way to not allow new guiding companies to form.
In order to stay within legal means, our company must not operate on public land until we get the permits in January. This is a big struggle, but we make it work. However, it has caused conflict.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lincoln Knowles Adventures LLC?
At just 20 years old, I am a full-time climbing guide and YouTuber, passionately sharing my adventures and expertise with a growing online audience. While pursuing my major in Computer Science at the University of Utah, I balance rigorous academic demands with my love for climbing, offering personalized guiding services and creating engaging content that inspires others to explore the vertical world.
My journey reflects a commitment to both intellectual and physical challenges, demonstrating that with dedication and passion, it’s possible to achieve great heights in multiple arenas. I intend to grow my Youtube Audience as much as possible this upcoming year, with the hopes of reaching 25k subscribers.
I intend to reach 200 clients by the end of this calendar year as well.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a significant role in my journey, from chance encounters with inspiring mentors to unexpected opportunities that have propelled my career forward. For instance, meeting a renowned climber while on a trip to Greece provided me with invaluable training and insights that I couldn’t have anticipated. This mentorship not only enhanced my guiding skills but also inspired me to start my own climbing business. Additionally, the growth of my YouTube channel was bolstered by a blessed childhood, having access to a video club at my high school.
These fortunate breaks, combined with my dedication and skill, have been crucial in helping me achieve success in both my climbing career and academic pursuits. My story is a testament to how seizing opportunities, both planned and serendipitous, can lead to remarkable achievements. It’s a reminder that while hard work and persistence are essential, being open to the unexpected can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
I am highly ambitious and would like to think most of my success comes from my ability to persevere when challenges pop up and embracing difficult times.
