Inspiring Conversations with Brandi Barber of Whereenergyflows

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Barber

Hi Brandi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I was 19 I remember getting told that I was skilled in massage. I decided to check out UCMT back in 08. For a list of reasons I never followed up. Then in 2009 I had my first child. Which put me back in a traditional college working mostly as a server. I was in and out of the food industry until 2019. I had also dabbled in positions like collections, hr and payroll for companies with as many as 350 employees and customer service on all fronts. So I was well rounded in dealing with people one on one and the backend of business. During this time, I ended up checking myself into a residential treatment program. Even though I still struggled with substances up until 2019, this residential treatment program changed my life. I remember having a required yoga session with the other residence in this program. And while doing yoga, I was brought back to my love for massage and mindfulness. I’ve always been a seeker but like most people that I know anyways I’ve been thrown off track quite a few times in my life. In 2019, I decided to enroll in a massage program. I had a close friend of the time who went through a program successfully and it also sparked up a motivation in me to follow my purpose. It was probably one of the hardest years of my life. Which is not a small thing to say for as many things as I’ve been through. COVID-19 hit everybody in the face, I decided to get clean for good, then later found out I was pregnant.. At the end of 2020 I gave birth to my son and graduated from healing mountain massage school.

I always knew that entrepreneurship probably fit me better than anything else. After couple years of massage, I decided to open up my LLC. While still working in spas, gaining knowledge and experience working one on one with clients and understanding the behind-the-scenes factor. But I noticed that my son was growing up while I was at work. You know things like using the potty for the first time. That’s what ultimately sparked the driving force behind me creating whereenergyflows. Ayurvedic Massage and medicine was something I had been drawn to for quite sometime. Which sparked a new desire in me and in 2023. I went back to healing Mountain massage school for the holistic health practitioner certification program. Unfortunately, despite my great grades, my attendance had caused them to dismiss me from school. As a single mother, balancing normal life is hard enough, but when your kids are sick physically and emotionally, it can really affect how we show up in life. You can’t be in two places at once. But I have a passion for learning and expanding my practice. Gratefully, I completed my holistic nutrition and herbalism courses. There were other courses that I did not get to finish like Ayurvedic massage and structural integration that I am still studying on my own. But since April 2023, I have been practicing herbalism and have grown to love working with the earth in medicinal ways.

Fast forward to today… I have my own private practice in which I make holistic herbal products, practice things like Thai yoga massage, Reiki, chakra work and balancing, Swedish massage and so many other modalities. In a couple of weeks, I begin my journey to a Reiki master.

I have had a lot of ups and downs in business as well. However, I continue to grow in business and with self. As a mother, a family member, & a member of my community.

I am committed to healing myself therefore, my children will be healed. And I can show up as the best version of myself on a daily basis not just for my children and my family but for my clients & respective colleagues.

Right now I’m a licensed massage therapist, a Reiki II practitioner and I do practice holistic health. I am a beginner herbalist (because there is so much to know even as someone who’s been in for over a year) I will always be a student.

Thank you for reading my story, or a small portion of it anyway. I believe that the trials and tribulations that we experience shape who we become. All the jobs that I’ve ever worked came together when I decided to be a business owner. There are so many things that I do not know yet, but there are a few more new things that I know now that I just finally did it.

My only regret is that I did not follow my purpose sooner in life. Don’t let anyone talk you out of the greatness that exists within you!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every step of this process has been new for me. From setting up an LLC to all of the legal requirements. The taxes alone are confusing. I have had different locations that didn’t work out for one reason or another. However, with each setback, I have learned something new and I have applied that with the next step that I’ve taken forward.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed massage therapist, reiki master, and holistic herbal products cultivator. I am known by my clients as an intentional holistic therapist, intuitively lead in session. I work with empathy and understanding. There are many great therapists in the Ogden area. My journey started in 2018 prior to massage school by offering tarot readings online and for my friends and family. I’ve always been deeply connected to consciousness & the divine. I bring that into my practice with every client. I’m most proud of the growth the has occurred within my business and self. It started with just massage and has evolved into an intuitive holistic practice with a brand new line of topical products infused with healing herbs & energy. Up next i will be passing along my knowledge and intuition to those who are looking for more holistic solutions to life, health, and purpose.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I was in my massage program in 2020. I mostly learned how essential it is for human touch and connection. I saw the negative effects on those around me, including clients of quarantine, lockdown status not being able to hug or touch the people that you loved. I remember the first session I had after the lockdown was removed and my client was so grateful he was in tears. He was grateful for the session because he had not had any type of connection in weeks and getting that massage brought him such an emotional response. It was then that I realized just how important this work is.
