Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Warmath
Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey, I’m Rachel!
I’m a writer, editor, memoir artist, poet, and champion for independent authors. I’m a graduate of Northwestern University, a certified yoga teacher, an energy healer, and an ultramarathon runner turned daily walker, too.
I empower individuals to release resistance, harness perfectionism, and build unstoppable momentum in their wellness and creative pursuits.
I grew up in northern California and now live in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In addition to my writing endeavors, I also teach and practice yoga. I’m the founder of Alive in the Fire and the Move, Write, Heal community.
I incorporate a variety of holistic practices into my routine, including yoga, contrast therapy, strength training, energy work, meditation, hiking, and walking.
Fun Facts About My Journey As a Writer:
In third grade, I won the Placer County Spelling Bee. 😆🏆🐝
Senior year of high school, I was voted “most likely to publish a book” by my peers.
I started college as a journalism major, but ended up switching to a degree in English when I got into the creative writing program (with a focus in poetry).
Ages 10-32: I dreamt of writing books, but had no idea where to start.
Ages 32-36: I’ve published 8 books in 4 years.
Over the last decade, I’ve helped over 100 authors on their non-fiction, poetry, and memoir manuscripts. I believe the book writing, editing, and publishing process is about more than just authoring a book— it’s about authoring a new version of you.
I also specialize in supporting small business owners and wellness brands with their website, email, and social copy through strategic campaigns.
I’m obsessed with the intersection of wellness and creativity, and helping you feel confident in your unique voice.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life is usually a windy, bumpy road! Well, some days it is smooth 🙂 But many times there are ups and downs. Some of my struggles have included:
Debilitating anxiety, depression and lack of self-esteem. Mental health has been a theme for me all the years of my adult life, teens, twenties, and thirties. I’m grateful that over the years I’ve added more and more tools to my toolbox that help me take care of myself. Yoga, Reiki energy healing, and meditation have been a huge help. So has staying active and creating an active lifestyle. I am glad to say I’m now in a place where I can rebound pretty quickly, and I can tap into the deep sense of strength and resilience within.
Living paycheck-to-paycheck and having a scarcity mindset for many years. For a long time in my career, I doubted myself, undervalued myself, played small, and kept myself in spaces where my work wasn’t valued. Over the last 5 years, I’ve really focused on building my leadership skills, showing up authentically, and pushing myself to grow. It has paid off immensely.
Putting myself through hell in relationships with narcissists and emotionally unavailable people. I learned this one the hard way, but am finally able to discern who is and isn’t worth my time and energy. I now have a balance between giving and receiving.
Believing I wasn’t good enough because of my uniqueness, my sensitivity, my empathy. My 30s have been all about self-awareness, self-acceptance, and peeling back deep layers of healing. It’s often uncomfortable but always so worth it!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a multi-passionate, multi-disciplinary writer.
I’ve independently written and published 8 books.
I’m a poet.
I’m a memoirist.
I copywrite for wellness businesses.
I write an award-winning yoga blog called Alive in the Fire.
I write for yoga enthusiasts and teachers, writers, creatives, brand-new authors, and badass humans interested in healing and transformation.
I specialize in editing non-fiction books written by leaders, coaches, entrepreneurs, and women with healing stories.
What am I most proud of? Being willing to have adventures and pursue ambitious goals. Running an ultramarathon. Moving to Utah all on my own. Publishing my work with confidence. Getting married (not giving up on love, even after many heartbreaks). And being sober. Choosing not to drink changed everything.
What sets me apart from others? I’m a highly sensitive person, a Projector, and an empath with great boundaries. I’m all about championing the underdog—small-time authors, creatives, and businesses are where the real magic happens. I’m not interested in chasing the New York Times Best Sellers list; I’d rather self-publish and keep my voice authentic than wait for someone else’s stamp of approval.
I don’t have or want kids. But I’ve birthed 8 books into the world.
I’m a career-driven woman and I love being a breadwinner in our family. Our plan is for me to retire my husband early, and he and I both love that.
I could care less about clothing brands, expensive purses, and following the latest trends. Most of the time I don’t wear makeup. I’m letting my gray hair grow out. Zero Botox here. I don’t feel ashamed of looking older, and I’m sick of the unrealistic beauty standards placed on women. I think everyone gets to define beauty for themselves, and everyone’s path to loving their unique appearance looks different. I still struggle with insecurities but I’m actively choosing to work through them, all the time.
How do you define success?
Success is having complete time freedom, vibrant health, loving relationships, and self-acceptance.
