Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Lloyd
Hi Nick, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains, I always had a camera in hand. In high school, this hobby became a passion as I explored the classes and opportunities offered at Highland High School in Salt Lake City. By my senior year, my skills were recognized, leading me to teach afterschool video editing courses and take on bookings from friends and family for senior portraits and weddings.
In college, my business, Nick Lloyd Media, was founded and quickly grew as my weekends and free time quickly filled with photoshoots and wedding videography. During my junior year, I began working summers in the film industry, operating cameras and serving as a first assistant camera. This experience deepened my passion for narrative and feature film work, and my clientele expanded to include small brand advertising and content creation.
After graduating in the spring of 2024, I moved to New York City with the goal of further pursuing a career in the feature film industry. Now, I travel across the US for photography, filmmaking, and videography, with most of my clients based in the Salt Lake area. As a creator I am constantly inspired by my upbringing and try to incorporate the beautiful nature, vast landscapes and western styles into my editorial and modern styles. Being in my early 20s and now able to commit full-time to my passions, I’m excited about my future as a creator and for the growth of my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am now has had its fair share of challenges, but I have been constantly surrounded by the most supportive friends and family. One of the biggest challenges I faced as a creator has been learning to manage the business side of my career without much education or formal training. Starting a business and operating a single member LLC aren’t subjects that are covered in formal photography and film education courses. Additionally promoting yourself as a creator in a rapidly changing digital world means that outside of creating for a client, now you must be constantly creating content to stay relevant. It’s still a learning process for me today, but I am grateful for the friends and professionals who continue to educate and help me along the way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer, videographer and filmmaker with a passion of merging the analog world of film and photography with the digital world. I specialize in portrait and fashion photography, wedding and branded content videography, and in the film industry I work as a first assistant camera and director of photography. I would describe my work as vibrant, cinematic, and emotive. My work blends natural light with creative compositions, resulting in visually striking images and videos that tell compelling stories. I would describe my aesthetic as modern yet timeless, with a focus on authentic expression and carefully crafted visual narratives. I am honestly most proud of the connections I have made along the way. Over the last few years I have met the most amazing clients, fellow creators, and collaborators. These connections have truly been the foundation of my business and have made my journey as a creator incredibly rewarding.

Never be afraid to start something that you are passionate about. Although the process may have its unique challenges, there are always people and opportunities along the way to help you. You don’t need to be “perfect” or have everything figured out just to start.
