Check Out Olivia Larsen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Larsen

Hi Olivia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started photography when I was 12 years old, I’d steal my mom’s old Nikon DSLR and take random pictures of everyone and everything around me. I started taking it more seriously when I was about 15 years old. I spent all my savings on a Canon Rebel T7 and started capturing everything around me. That year, I probably took close to 15,000 photos. I’d bring my camera everywhere. Every trip, every school event. Any time I could take pictures I’d be there. Senior year I stopped taking as many photos and got caught up in school, losing my passion for it just a little. Then I graduated and my passion reignited, taking off into my professional career. I’ve been doing professional photography for about a year now, and I’m figuring out my art style and mediums that I love.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are a lot of really cool things about this job but a lot of downsides as well. I’m very grateful for how far I’ve come, but it has not been easy. There are so many times when people have told me my art isn’t good enough or that I’m not gonna be successful. In the industry you get ignored and ghosted by people all the time. You always feel like there’s someone better than you, and learning to overcome that has been a struggle for sure. I often find myself comparing my art to others then take a step back and take a deep breath. Comparison is an art killer, and I remind myself that.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do a lot of concert photography and I’m getting more into the car/motorcycle scene. I like fast paced environments, it’s what I thrive in for sure. I’m really proud of myself for the fact that I can think quick on my feet and produce beautiful still images in moments of chaos, it’s a really beautiful thing. I think my art style is really easily recognizable as mine, a lot of people tell me they know it’s my work when they see it. It gives me a sense of pride, like people acknowledge the hard work I put into my pieces.

Any big plans?
I’m hoping to get signed on with a marketing agency or magazine. I’d love to be able to get media passes into bigger venues. I’d also love to tour with a band if the opportunity ever arose. I have so many things I want to do, and I’m so excited that my journey is just beginning.
