Today we’d like to introduce you to Izabelle Sorensen
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up on a pig farm along the Colorado and Utah border. Five A.M. feedings and wheelbarrows full of manure were integral in shaping not only arm muscles, but my work ethic and no-quit attitude. After graduating during a global pandemic, I began college online and shortly thereafter moved to New York. With nothing but two suitcases and my backpack, I flew across the country, determined to succeed. During my time in the Big Apple, I signed with a modeling agency, competed in pageants, auditioned for TV and commercials, and found my calling in the entertainment industry. While the Northeast treated me well, I knew that my heart belonged out West. I made the pilgrimage back towards my roots, and decided that West Valley City is where I belong.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“The road to success is paved with failure.” After facing severe bullying in high school, I was excited to move away and start fresh. However, as I grow up, I found that struggles become increasingly complex- like my taxes. From battling an unknown autoimmune condition, to fighting doctors for answers, and finally receiving my Lupus diagnoses, I felt that my biggest bully thus far was my own body.
Rejections are also hard to overcome- not getting a callback for a show, not being selected for a commercial, not winning a pageant- I’ve found several bumps along the way. These bumps have paved my path to happiness and success though, so I’m grateful for each challenge that comes my way. I would not be the person I am today without the adversity I have faced.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a model, actress, on-air personality, and influencer. I find joy in providing entertainment and enriching my community. This is why, in addition to acting and modeling, I partner with organizations directed at military family support. As a military spouse and family member, I know firsthand the struggles that our service meters and their families face everyday. Uncertainty, anxiety, disappointment, and lack of control over the future, to name a few. Partnering with organizations that raise money for military child scholarships, or helping supply free dresses to military spouses for awards banquets, and writing letters to deployed service members fills my heart with pride and happiness. My proudest moment was raising over $8,000 for military children’s scholarships!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
How to be flexible! I am Class of 2020, so to say I had an unconventional Senior year would be an understatement. From two weeks to flatten the curve, to starting my Freshman year of college on my laptop, I had to roll with the punches and be my 100% best, regardless of the situation. This helped me transition into full-time online learning as I commute between New York, Los Angeles, and Utah for work.
