Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Minick
Hi Alexis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
my journey into photography began back in high school, where I found joy in capturing the essence of life around me. I started with senior photos, boudoir sessions, and even took engagement shots in a church parking lot for a friend. before that, I was behind the camera for the church’s social media, which ignited my passion for storytelling through images.
my first paid session was only $60 for two hours, but that experience opened the door to more clients, and soon I was balancing my love for photography with college life as a bio major. I enjoyed photographing my sorority sisters, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that the STEM path wasn’t meant for me. so, I shifted gears and pursued an english major, where I could embrace my creativity + become a high school English teacher.
during this time, I sought mentorship and began assisting with weddings for a vendor company in tyler, tx. while I appreciated the experience, I discovered that the cookie-cutter weddings didn’t resonate with me. working at Starbucks to support myself, I met a couple who hired me as a second shooter, and that’s where I truly began to grow.
I fell in love with the energy of weddings, but as the pandemic unfolded, I started to long for something different. the allure of elopements captured my heart; the freedom and intention couples found in choosing their own path felt so genuine.
I dedicated my energy to building a portfolio that reflected authentic love stories. I had the privilege of photographing downtown elopements, courthouse weddings, and even an unforgettable elopement for a photographer I admired. in that moment, it became clear: this was my calling.
however, living in east texas made it challenging to capture the mountainous elopements I dreamed of. I realized it was time for a change, and I had to share this dream with my /very new/ boyfriend, who was supportive beyond words. we decided to move to utah together, where the beautiful landscapes finally matched my vision.
now, we’re settling into our new home in sugarhouse, surrounded by our fur babies. I’m excited to continue building my business in the PNW, colorado, utah, and wherever love takes me, capturing the beautiful, adventurous elopements of couples who prioritize their unique love stories over tradition.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
building my business in east texas came with its hurdles as I embraced my own unique creative journey. the market was saturated with cookie-cutter weddings, and finding my niche felt overwhelming. then, when COVID hit, everything changed. it forced me to rethink my approach and seek out elopements, which led to a lot of trial and error as I navigated this new focus.
moving to utah was a huge leap of faith for me. leaving behind a flourishing business and starting fresh in a new place brought its own set of fears and uncertainties. but through it all, I learned the importance of embracing the hard stuff and staying true to my vision. each struggle has shaped me and deepened my passion for capturing authentic love stories, making the journey so freaking worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

What I’m most proud of is the connection I build with my clients. I genuinely care about understanding their vision and helping them curate a day that feels authentic to who they are. I love that my work allows me to create lasting memories for couples who choose to prioritize their love and embrace their individuality.

I strive to create a luxury experience that feels personal and meaningful, embracing the details while capturing the raw, beautiful moments that unfold. I am all about celebrating love in a way that feels true to each couple, and that’s what I aim to deliver every time.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories has to be my obsession with Tumblr at the time. I would spend hours scrolling through aesthetic photos and getting inspired by others’ creativity. It really opened my eyes to the power of visual storytelling and inspired my love for photography.
I loved how images could convey emotion and tell a story without words. I started experimenting with my own photography, capturing everything from sunsets to candid moments with friends. That creative spark ignited a passion that ultimately led me to where I am today, doing what I love—documenting authentic love stories through my lens.
