Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Van Wagenen
Hi Jeremiah , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Jeremiah Van Wagenen.
I’m Creative Director / Founder of Project Fabulosity.
Project Fabulosity is based on finding your inner to outer Diva / Divo while supporting others in their journey.
We live, work, socialize in competitive environments where sometimes we loose base on the beauty of feeling safe and support. Project Fabulosity brings out the beauty in supporting others while working on our journey to find / explore / create who we are.
I myself was brought up in a tough competitive GLBTQIA scene in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Going through adult life mainly in NYC… I look back on my experiences coming up with Project Fabulosity… Why weren’t / aren’t we more supportive? One can be competitive while wanting others to do their best while bringing our best. I view that’s what a true Diva / Divo inspires. We can laugh at extravagance at those labels but why? Why is being extra a bad thing when people are embracing wanting to live their best life beyond!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Not at all. If you have a goal that digs in your heart, I view often there’s an in depth story of work and motivation that comes with it.
I’m continuing to push a few projects in the works of Project Fabulosity which will have a long road in hopes for an outlook I view people should embrace from others.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
First off… I’m proud have done Youth Advocacy work in my teen years in Salt Lake at time where Youth Advocates / Volunteers were making a statement just at the internet boom was on the beginning brink. I was part of a Youth wave I’m proud to be a part of also with night life, arts, culture, nature goers, who weren’t afraid to be out there. I mean I view youth have always paved ways in different lengths over time. There was something special about Salt Lake City at that time for me wanting to embrace who I am in the now with Project Fabulosity.
I’m currently working on a couple of documentary projects for social media with Project Fabulosity about Salt Lake City Youth / Scene / from yester-year.
Disposable Youth takes a look at former Youth Advocates / Youth Volunteers to who made and impact. Taking a look back where are they now? Do people remember their work? And if not.. Why are so many who get involved get overlooked?
The other series takes a look back on areas from Downtown’s scene from 99′ – 2004′ (open to expand) about areas in Salt Lake which had a underground zone from cruising to survival for the creatives that made Salt Lake a staple of ranging from night life to the arts community to activism which made Salt Lake a unique in depth experience. I view Salt Lake on the National level gets marked as a conservative city. Yet there’s a lot of depth / visuals / stories from Diverse individuals who made Downtown / areas of Salt Lake special. I view those stories needs to be remembered / preserved as changes continue.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My Mentors and Colleagues as a former Youth Advocate in Salt Lake.
The Gay and Lesbian Community Center from Community Leaders to various Youth / Adults who frequent there back when it was the GLCCU / Stonewall Coffee shop just north of West High School.
The Divas and Divos I grew up with in a competitive yet fierce club culture.
Also with the work I’ve taken on in NYC throughout my adult years as a Creative Assistant.
All whom inspired bits and parts of why Project Fabulosity is important to me and can hopefully make an impact embracing the Beauty of Bring Our Best While Supporting Others Doing the Same.
Project Fabulosity will forever be in continuing development as a I would hope any business shines through as the World is constantly evolving.
