Community Highlights: Meet Christin Vetter of Bad Humor Heart and Cheese Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christin Vetter

Hi Christin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Christin Vetter, I started working in the food industry waiting tables when I was 14 years old, fell in love with the service, and have participated in it in many different ways ever since. I started Bad Humor Meat and Cheese Company in January of 2023 with my business partner Chandler Anderson. We started this business with the intention of creating a food service business that is built by chefs for chefs. Simple menu of Burgers and Grilled Cheese made with quality ingredients and proper technique. Good food does not have to be complicated or inaccessible to the general public.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Anyone who starts a business will tell you that there are always challenges and things to learn along the way. Having this be the first business that I have started from scratch there were many learning curves, but already having managing experience made learning all of the backend paper work much easier. There will always be challenges and things to learn, but that is what is exciting to me, no two days will ever be the same, there is something new to discover every day.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bad Humor Heart and Cheese Co?
We picked the name Bad Humor because we try not to take ourselves too seriously… At the end of the day we make burgers and grilled cheese, great quality and a good price, that is our goal. Having worked in fine dining, and creating multi course menus that cost hundreds of dollars it is a beautiful thing to step back and create fast fun accessible food. Of course there is a place for luxury and food, who doesn’t love to go out and buy a bottle of wine for the table, and order a tasting menu, but that is not realistic for all people. We love catering the custom menus for individual parties and really letting the creativity flow, but there is something so enjoyable about the simplicity of a cheeseburger. Another aspect of our business is sustainability, there are so many things broken about our food system. We are so proud to offer local food to northern Utah, we work with as many local farmers as possible. Many connections have been made through the Ogden Farmers market, and giving back to the food community around us helps us and the people around us do better business, and create better food.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The most obvious answer to that is to come buy our food, and support the events that we do. In an individual way, try to pay attention to where you get your food, support as many local farmers and growers as possible. Yes they can cost a little bit more, but the quality of food is so much higher and more sustainable for your direct community around you, and communities across the globe.
