Meet Allie Taylor of Mabē

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Taylor

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2022, when I became a mom to the sweetest baby boy, I was thrilled! However, it was much harder than I expected in many ways. The arrival of my little one also birthed a new me, (and what felt like a new life), that I had yet to learn how to navigate.

I realized that getting comfortable and confident with who I was in motherhood, and finding myself in this new role would only come as I got out and started living life to the fullest, gaining experience as I went.

I started taking more outings with my baby, got back into my old hobbies, met up with friends, and even went back to working my small local business. Though I wanted (and needed) to solidify my identity outside of motherhood by pursuing these endeavors, for me that didn’t mean leaving baby behind. It meant bringing him along, and in doing so, nurturing my bond with him as well as boosting my confidence in myself. Babywearing was my ticket to doing just that.

I had a few different baby carriers/wraps, but I wasn’t quite satisfied with the balance of form and function in any of them. I began the hunt for a chic baby carrier that I felt good in (both physically and mentally!). I wanted my baby close, and often needed both hands to run my small business at the time; but I just couldn’t quite fall in love with the hiking-pack-esque carriers I found on the market. I didn’t get excited at the thought of putting on. a baby carrier. Not to mention they were bulky, and impossible to even put on myself without an extra set of hands–something I rarely had at the times I needed to wear it.

I wanted something that was as convenient as it was comfortable and beautiful. Something that made sense for my budget while aligning with the things I valued most. The more I searched for what I was looking for in a baby carrier, the more I realized that it didn’t exist. There was a glaring gap in the market for moms like me, who wanted to feel empowered, and valued not only functionality and affordability, but also beauty and comfort.

So, with the help of my husband’s product manufacturing experience, and my own experience in small business and marketing, we set out to fill that gap, and empower other moms like myself–because we deserve the freedom and confidence of having our hands free while feeling comfortable, supported, and beautiful!

Our mission is simple: Empower mothers (and fathers!). Provide a baby carrier that looks and feels incredible. One that empowers you to continue doing everything you love, so you can keep chasing your dreams (whatever they mabē) with your hands free, and your baby in tow. Mabē started with a vision to help mothers like me truly believe in and tap into their limitless potential, and a product that would help them do it.

We are a small, husband and wife owned, business out of Southeast Idaho, with a passion for empowering and serving parents. We love business, and we love baby wearing, but most importantly: we love people. We strive to create a magical experience for each and every one of the incredible customers who finds our brand. We believe that each of us has the power to create our own reality, and our mission is to help as many parents as possible to create a reality that they LOVE with their little ones.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been so many challenges along the way, for sure! Many of those have simply been internal battles–believing in ourselves and our ability to carry out this mission to the masses. The baby industry also comes with many of its own unique challenges, so we have had to learn so much about the regulations and requirements to make sure everything is safe and compliant, which was definitely one of the largest mountains we had to scale before starting. I would say one of the biggest challenges of being self-started in such a unique industry is not having anyone in our immediate or even peripheral circles who has done anything similar, so it has been a lot of trial and error, and searching to find our own resources. Starting an e-commerce business comes with so many unique challenges in and of itself, and add on top of that the challenges of having it be a baby-product business, and it can certainly make you feel isolated really quickly. One of the biggest blessings has been that my husband, Hunter, and I started Mabē together, knowing that it was bigger than ourselves. Because of this, we have been able to lean on each other for support, and continue to do the deep inner work that is required in order to remember the “why” and keep going when things get tough. At the end of the day, our vision and purpose behind the brand is what keeps us going and guides everything that we do. That is what keeps us motivated to continue to surmount any challenges that we face.

As you know, we’re big fans of Mabē. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mabē is a brand focused on empowering parents and giving them the freedom and confidence to continue chasing their dreams and doing all that they love after baby.

What we are most proud of is definitely the mission and the feeling behind this brand and our products. We are so proud to have an incredible community of parents that we have been able to empower with our message.

What makes our product unique is that it is designed to be the best of all-worlds when it comes to baby-wearing. It is the comfort and coziness of a wrap carrier, with the convenience of a clip-carrier. It not only makes you feel comfortable, but also looks so good that you cant help but look forward to putting it on to show-off your little one. Instead of feeling like your baby carrier is holding back your personal style or lifestyle, it simply adds even more to it, allowing you to embrace baby-wearing with confidence both in how you feel and look while wearing your little one. All at a price point that makes sense for the everyday parent.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is that our brand always has a heart and soul, and that we continue to stay true to our purpose and connected to our people. We did not start Mabē solely to make a dollar, but rather to truly make a difference, fill a need, and create a feeling that people resonate with. What matters above all is to offer products that serve our community and make parents feel like they can take on the world (whatever that may look like) while keeping their babies close.
