Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Hall
Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out my entrepreneurial journey in 2020 when my husband, Alex, and I were engaged. We had a Covid wedding and wanted to save as much money as possible. One of the ways we thought of was by making our own wedding cake! However, after many tries, I realized it wasn’t as easy as it looks. (Long story short, we ended up buying our wedding cake from a bakery.) Later that year, I decided to give cake making ONE more try by making my mothers birthday cake – and it was a SUCCESS! Ever since then, I have made cakes for family, friends, and strangers.
This journey sparked something else in me in 2024. I lost my job due to layoffs within the company I worked at and we were scrambling to figure our finances out. We decided to turn our basement apartment into an Airbnb and it INSTANTLY took off! Within the first 24 hours of launching, we got two bookings!
My husband and I took that huge leap and it has paid off ever since. Our Airbnb, Vintage Vista Lodge, has been a great success within our market that we reached the Top 5% of homes on Airbnb in the first month and SuperHost Status within the first 3 months.
We felt like this knowledge could be useful to anyone else feeling discouraged about the housing market or struggling to make ends meet, that we launched our an Online Course + Community called Hall House. This is an online platform that empowers the younger generations into home ownership through house hacking.
We’ve definitely kept our hands full over the last few months, but we’ve worked incredibly hard to be where we’re at right now. It’s only up from here.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. The Entrepreneurial life is very unpredictable and can change at any moment. There’s no handbook for entrepreneurship. This might be a unpopular opinion, but I’d have to say the biggest struggle I’ve faced is the feeling of loneliness. When you first express your thoughts/feelings about starting a business… you are faced with the looks of disapproval by those closest to you. You spend nights questioning your own sanity or if things will even work out.
Thats when you know you’re on the right path. Not everyone needs to support you in your journey and thats okay. The best advice I’ve ever heard is “Do More”. If you feel like the people around you are saying negative things about what you’re doing? Do More. If you feel like you’re not as good as your competition? Do More. If you feel like there’s a possibility that things might fail? Do More.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our most recent brand is built on the realization that the younger generation won’t ever get to experience the American Dream. The American Dream is officially dead. 69% of Americans can’t afford a home in the United States. My husband and I were a part of that percentage for many years. We lived in my parents basement, lived paycheck to paycheck, and felt like we wouldn’t ever own a home.
That was until we found a way to buy a home with 0% down, have someone else pay our mortgage, and build equity. All while my husband was still in school and I had lost my job. We found a home with a basement apartment, turned it into an Airbnb, and it has completely taken off since!
We built an online community and course that walks others through exactly how we did it and how they can finally live their American Dream! We are so proud of this community and feel that we knew NOTHING when we were looking into homeownership. Luckily, our Hall House members will never be alone!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the Real Estate Industry going either ways. It can take off completely, or it could come to a complete stop. Our Program caters to either results and I know that homeownership and House Hacking will always be in demand.
