Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Pablo
Hi Omar, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was originally born in Mexico I was brought here from an immigrant family and I started making clothes in 2016 I realized I had a passion for clothes I would spend all my money on clothing like supreme and golf wang and one day my friend told me we should just start our own brand we came up with hoodlm and I’ve ran it ever since. I grew up with my parents owning a restaurant so I always had some sort of business mindset and I always grew up knowing it’s possible to work for yourself so I never doubted that this was possible. Now I am starting to dive deeper into making more creative items like plushies and coloring books along with other accessories along those lines to strengthen my brand and grow my audience and show them I’m more than just a clothing brand. I also do a pod cast weekly talking about street wear and the trending news in that world I just really like to involve in the culture as much as possible
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been somewhat smooth, I think the biggest struggles other than getting stuff manufactured has been building a strong community. One of my biggest goals is to create a community that is able to support each other and when you see someone wearing a hoodlm piece you know you have stuff in common and can relate to eachother.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is omar, I like to describe myself as a creator. I don’t like to just call myself a clothing designer because I love to create way more than just clothes. My main ambition is to build a household name with Hoodlm. I want to create products that bring people together I like to take inspiration from all my hobbies like wrestling, toy collecting, Clothing, etc. my goal is to take everyone from each niche I associate with and bring them together. I would say I specialize in creating products more than just clothing. For example creating my own plushies and rolling trays or coloring books is what I think sets my brand apart and makes it that much more valuable. The thing i’m most proud about is being able to take an idea in my imagination and bring it to life and executing the marketing well enough that it makes you NEED to buy it.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned that you have to always look at the bright side and not let anything get in the way of you have going on also everything can get taken in a drop of a dime so don’t take anything for granted.
