Today we’d like to introduce you to Divya Geddam
Hi Divya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up as a brown, Indian woman, I was surrounded by the idea that certain career paths, like medicine, were the norm. I actually followed that path for a while, even making it all the way to PA school, but there came a point when I realized it no longer aligned with who I was or what I wanted in life. It was a tough decision, but I decided to pivot completely, breaking into the healthcare tech field instead. This change allowed me to explore not only a new industry but also how I could help others transition into tech, just like I did!
At the same time, I got the travel bug after my career change and have since traveled to 11 new countries. This journey inspired me to get my feet wet in the world of travel content creation. As a travel creator, I’m passionate about showing others how they can balance adventure with their routine, especially those working full-time jobs like I do. I’ve proven that it’s possible to have a career you love and still explore the world. I love going on solo trips, seeking out adrenaline-pumping adventures, and showing others how they can break out of the boxes society places them in.
Ultimately, my story is about daring to live your most adventurous and fulfilling life, without neglecting the routines and habits that make you your best self. I’m someone who thrives on routine and balance, and I want to show people that it’s possible to do both – to live boldly and keep growing while maintaining the lifestyle and habits that make you feel grounded.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh, not at ALL. My career transition alone was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. I essentially left behind eight years of studying and working in medicine, basically everything I had known and worked for. It was a massive shift, and I remember vividly driving 8 hours from Boston to DC with no music on, just sitting in silence, lost in my thoughts. I was contemplating whether I was making the right career choice, and at that moment, I felt completely lost and like a failure for even considering the change. I even FaceTimed my best friend, Terisha, to talk through it because I just didn’t know how to make sense of everything.
Breaking the news to my parents was hard, but they were so supportive, telling me they’d rather see me alive, happy, and doing something I enjoy than stuck in a career I disliked for the sake of their expectations, and their support was truly everything to me.
Starting over in tech came with its own set of challenges, but as someone who thrives on learning new things, I adapted. Building a personal brand as a travel creator has also been a fun and rewarding adventure. I love sharing beautiful places around the world through my lens and storytelling. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel burned out at times. There are lots of late nights, endless editing sessions, and times when I’m on a trip and have to carve out space just to capture content. It can be exhausting, but it’s absolutely worth it. I get to create and inspire others to balance their passions with their day-to-day lives, and that’s what keeps me going.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently work in healthcare tech as a project manager, where I help manage and improve systems on the corporate side after initially starting out on the provider side. Outside of my 9-5, I’m also a travel content creator and creative. I specialize in showing people how to balance a fulfilling routine with adventure travel, especially for those working full-time jobs. I’ve traveled to 18 countries, and I love sharing those experiences through my lens, inspiring others to take trips while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
What I’m most proud of is being able to break away from the mold and show others it’s possible to transition into a new career while exploring your passions. I’ve built a community around this idea, sharing not only travel tips and destination guides, but also free resources on how to break into new fields like tech, especially for those who are feeling stuck or want to make a change like I did.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge adventure with wellness and productivity, showing others how to stay grounded through their routines while chasing adrenaline-pumping experiences. As an Indian woman, I’m proud to represent those who don’t often see themselves reflected in the travel creator space. And as a bonus, I’m also a female drone pilot and photographer, capturing creative shots of the beautiful places I visit from unique angles.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Oh, I am a HARDCORE personal development junkie, and I could talk about all of the resources I use for HOURS! 😂 I love feeding my brain with ‘mind food’ every day in the form of books, podcasts, blog posts, and more. Some of my favorite speakers and authors are Tony Robbins (fun fact, I used to work for his company!) – I even attended one of his seminars last year, which absolutely transformed my life. I’m also a big fan of Joe Dispenza’s teachings.
When it comes to podcasts, I love The Mel Robbins Podcast, Andy Frisella’s Real AF, and The School of Greatness. They all give me different perspectives on motivation, personal growth, and mindset.
As for books, some of my favorites include Atomic Habits, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, Miracle Morning, Untethered Soul, Power of Now, and You Are a Badass. These have helped me tremendously in shaping my mindset and staying grounded in my personal growth.
On the app side, I use Notion as my second brain – it’s amazing for staying organized and productive. I track my habits using the Habit app, GoodNotes for note-taking, and YouTube is my go-to for learning and guided meditations!
