Today we’d like to introduce you to Tess Bohne
Hi Tess, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m known by some as the unofficial “Livestream Queen” for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. I have helped people watch the Eras Tour at home for (so far) 114 shows over the last year and a half. I went to one of the very first shows of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and was ready to go again as soon as I got home. I learned that there were people going live at the concerts on Tiktok and Instagram so I began watching those. I quickly ran into many problems–poor quality, bad connection, and streams ending abruptly. I realized I couldn’t be the only one with this problem so I began going live on my phone at home and recording my iPads. I would use one device to show the concert (with a sticky note to credit the user) and the other device to search for backups. It was my way of showing people a full concert using multiple streams. Now, it’s a lot more professionally done.
Because of unregulated ticket sales, scalpers, distance, money, physical and mental health reasons, I know there are so many who cannot go to shows. My goal is to help those without tickets be able to see concerts.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning, there was a constant fear that I could be shut down at any moment. Thankfully, I think Taylor’s team saw that it only increased the desire of fans to attend a concert. I think they also understood that it added to the experience and didn’t take anything away.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m all over the place. I got my bachelor’s degree in health science but have never done anything with that degree. I taught ESL to kids in China for four and a half years but have mostly just been a stay-at-home-mom for the past 11 years. For the livestreams, I was out of my element in the beginning and started out VERY basic by using my phone to stream the live feed on my iPad. Now I’ve got multiple computers, streaming platforms, and lots of equipment. Everything I’ve done with the livestreams has been self-taught and I’m proud of myself for that.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The best ideas are born out of necessity and passion. Growing like this was completely unintentional but fulfilled a need I had and a need I assumed others could have as well. Fulfill that need with passion, love, attention, and integrity and others will want what you can give them.
