Today we’d like to introduce you to Mela Ramirez
Hi Mela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for photography began at age 12, but it truly blossomed when I became a parent.Fast forward to 2015, when I invested in a nice camera and committed myself to learning everything I could about photography.
My main focus became my three-month-old daughter; I wanted to capture every precious moment of her growing up. As I honed my skills, I began taking pictures of close family and friends, realizing just how much I loved it. Inspired, I started an Instagram page to feature my work. The support I received was overwhelming, and soon I began attracting clients.
In the past few months, things have really taken off. I’ve had the pleasure to work with Liffcake Parties, expanding my network and connecting with other businesses. As I look ahead, I’m excited to continue growing my business and capturing the beautiful moments in life for others.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely been a challenging journey. In the past, I could only dedicate time to photography during my free moments, which meant I had a few sessions here and there, but nothing consistent. Earlier this year, I realized I needed to commit more seriously to my craft.
With the support of a business mentor, I took some pivotal steps. I created a new logo and clarified what I truly wanted from my photography business. Now, I make it a point to push myself every day, brainstorming new ideas and exploring different directions for my work. It’s been an exciting and transformative process!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the owner of MZettyPhotography, based in Utah. Until recently, I primarily focused on family portraits and individual sessions. However, I’ve expanded my services to include event photography, covering everything from elopements and weddings to birthdays to content events and corporate events.
I especially enjoy outdoor sessions, taking advantage of Utah’s beautiful landscapes, but I also love the warmth and intimacy of cozy studio session. This variety allows me to connect with different clients and capture a wide range of moments, which keeps my work fresh and exciting!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always curious and creative. I loved exploring the outdoors and had a passion for capturing moments, even if it was just with a simple camera or my phone. I was the type of kid who would document family gatherings and special events, which naturally led me to photography later on.
Personality-wise, I was very outgoing and friendly. I found joy in connecting with people, which eventually fueled my interest in portrait photography. I was also interested in art, often drawing to express my thoughts. Those interests have shaped my approach to photography, as I strive to tell a story through each image I capture.
