Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Nagle
Hi Brooke, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Brooke Nagle, I’m a personal trainer and holistic wellness coach. My interest in health and fitness began when my dad suffered a spinal cord injury when I was 5 years old. I started going to his physical therapy appointments with him and saw what an impact movement or lack of movement can make in a person’s life.
I went on to get my Bachelors degree in exercise science with a minor in public health from the University of Utah and began my personal training business. I have worked with clients of all ages with a wide range of goals from sport specific, to muscle gain, to weight loss.
I have a love for not only physical health but overall wellbeing. I work with my clients not just on their exercise and dietary needs but also their mindset about their bodies and health journey. I am currently completing my yoga teacher training as well as studying reiki, integrative nutrition & herbalism in order to provide the most well rounded guidance possible to my clients.
More recently within my journey I have also started competing in bodybuilding and training competitive bodybuilders. It has been so incredible to see the dedication within that sport. I ended my season this year taking first overall in the bikini division at the Idaho cup natural show.
Another huge passion within my coaching business is nutrition. I love making healthy recipes and high protein versions of popular treats. I fully believe that if you never have to feel like you’re missing out or eating boring food in order to achieve your goals. I have also learned that food can be used as one of the biggest tools to heal or aid in the healing of so many common problems within the human body. I really love teaching my clients not just how to eat healthy, but how to use food to their advantage for things like hormone balance and inflammation reduction.
My overall goal with my business is to help as many people as I can feel as good as they can in their body. We all deserve that!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have had to learn to really be heard when it comes to my business. I tend to be a shy person but have learned over time how to speak up for the things I truly believe in. This has happened not only for standing up for myself in hard situations throughout the years, but also in showing more pride in my business. As a young female running a business alone I often feel people don’t take me seriously, learning how to speak about myself and my work with pride has helped immensely.
It was challenging to transition from solely online training to in person and online. I didn’t want to train my clients in a crowded big box gym. Luckily I found an amazing space that is 100% private, always clean, and fully equipped with everything I need. My journey with my online clients also improved when I found the app I currently use.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a personal trainer and holistic wellness coach. I work with clients both in person and online to better their overall wellbeing through exercise, nutrition, mobility, and mindset work.
My online clients get full app access in which I can input all of their custom programming, including videos of each exercise. As well as weekly check ins and 2-way messaging for any questions.
Anyone who has worked with me knows that I look at health through a different lens than a lot of personal trainers. I really focus on teaching my clients how to listen to their bodies and learn how to respond. Beyond the gym, I help clients with hormone and stress balancing. I believe that fitness should be about doing the things you love, not the things you hate. I also love helping clients release guilt they hold surrounding their fitness journey.
I am most proud of the number of women I have helped educate about their hormones and cycles. So many women grow up not understanding the shifts that happen within the body each month, and learning to work with those shifts rather than against them has caused so much more relief and progress in my clients than I could have imagined.
Another thing that sets me apart is that rather than focusing on restriction, I focus on creating recipes for teaching you about healthy alternatives that actually taste good and help my clients reach their goals while still loving their food.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Full catastrophe living by Jon Kabat-Zinn was one I read in a mindfulness and meditation class in college that completely changed my life. Beyond that I am always reading books about herbalism and listening to podcasts about the latest research within the exercise science field.
I love the app clue for helping me track my cycle and learn more about my hormone phases.
